That’s how talks look. None of this my sources say blah blah…
Well if the MWC doesn’t call out name maybe we’ll be in line to replace Texas St. in the Sun Belt lol 😆 They’d probably take San Houston over us though. It must be nice to be wanted. A little disappointed to not hear our name yet, when Utep has no made it obvious that we want out of CUSA!
They might just take Sam Houston 😂🤣 jk jk
Vegas stfu I just got off the phone and confirmed it. I don’t owe you an explanation or have to give you sources FO!
If I was a betting man I’d say this is Uteps odds at this moment… Utep has it sights set on the PAC, but PAC is going to want a much larger Athletic Commitment and improvement in facilities. It doesn’t help that we don’t have very many men’s programs like baseball and soccer. Utep should absolutely do this though if the opportunity is even close to being there as in the long run it will be the wisest future money move. The MWC move is also a decent play. A bit of a smaller Athletic commitment and comparable to what we already spend, yet a significant increase in TV revenue expected to be about 3-4 million per school after a new deal gets done as opposed to 3/4 of a million that we get now. Utep could get on track with Football and Basketball and Profits for a couple of years and then see if PAC has interest at that point. CUSA is the safe chicken 🐔 Sh** move that no Miner fan really wants.
PAC 12 25%
MWC 40%
Stays in CUSA 35%
Looks like we’ll keep saying that more in a couple years within CUSA!
I think “sight set on” means a realistic goal one has, not a dream/fantasy scenario.
If the Pac 12 didn’t want UNM, they sure as fvck do not want UTEP. UTEP to the Pac 12 is a nonstarter. Not happening now or ever.
Looks like we’ll keep saying that more in a couple years within CUSA!
Other selling points for this unlikely scenario:I disagree, man. The PAC12 has few remaining options yet they still need schools. UTEP is in a once-in-a-lifetime window of opportunity right now. They can get into the PAC12 if Wilson/Senter are savvy enough to pull it off.
But if we as fans and alumni and the city want this move as well, are we willing to put our money where our mouth is and help fund a move as well? We would need to give and help support the projects that UTEP feel is necessary.I disagree, man. The PAC12 has few remaining options yet they still need schools. It shouldn’t be a hard sell if PAC-12 level opposition came to El Paso in both football and basketball. The big question is whether football can elevate themselves to where they can make a competitive game out of that type of opposition.Other selling points for this unlikely scenario:
We have a cheap buyout compared to other options and are in the footprint of the West. Travel and travel costs wouldn't be too much of a burden. We also bring them into Texas obviously far away from the Texas Triangle but still closer than their current schools. It seems like the city is producing a higher caliber of athlete as well, some of which are P5 level. We are University that owns its own market and still somehow puts 1 or 2 large crowds in the Sun Bowl a year despite the on the field product.
We can dream.
yeah right, Senter and Wilson are talking to the janitors who clean the offices of the MW and PAC leadershipWell I think what they were saying is the MWC will be watered down version of its old self, but still better for Utep than where we’re currently at. Everyone can doubt me as much as you want that’s fine, but I already said I knew a cost effectiveness analysis was done and today I can confirm Wilson has reached out to both PAC 12 and MWC. What I hear is MWC is interested in Utep, but Wilson prefers PAC 12 if a move is made. I say just be careful she doesn’t lose both by holding out on MWC at the time. It may come down to the financial commitment. PAC 12 is going to expect its teams to spend a lot more than MWC will on athletics.
That’s step 2. UTEP can’t ask for money before they join a new league. But if we as fans and alumni and the city want this move as well, are we willing to put our money where our mouth is and help fund a move as well? We would need to give and help support the projects that UTEP feel is necessary.
Again, UTEP is Plan Z. They will try to turn anyone in the East before they knock on UTEPs door.I disagree, man. The PAC12 has few remaining options yet they still need schools. UTEP is in a once-in-a-lifetime window of opportunity right now. They can get into the PAC12 if Wilson/Senter are savvy enough to pull it off.
cusa 85%, mwc 15%, pac 0%So your ‘insider knowledge’ that no one else in America has, tells you there is more or less an equal chance that they end up in one of these 3 conferences? That’s crazy, because if I were to guess I would say it’s about 38% MWC 37% CUSA and 35% PAC12
I agree 100% And the problem is that we don’t know if it is a possibility and I don’t think UTEP can sell any conference on the idea of “We can raise more funds if we get in a better conference.”That’s step 2. UTEP can’t ask for money before they join a new league.
UTEP isn’t going to publicly campaign because it’s a terrible look if something goes wrong. This is going to happen before November.I agree 100% And the problem is that we don’t know if it is a possibility and I don’t think UTEP can sell any conference on the idea of “We can raise more funds if we get in a better conference.”
lol, talk now and all we can do is wait and see if news down come out regarding Utep. Corona for the record again for the 100th time, cause I think you and some people in here like to embellish and add to what was said. Utep has Reached out….. Utep has Reached out….. I don’t know how many times you all need to hear it until you understand!!! I don’t know if or how much the interest is mutual from the 2 conference’s however. That’s how talks look. None of this my sources say blah blah…
I don’t even know what you’re talking about anymore, No I don’t and this will be the last time I respond to a troll like yourself, Good Day SirUnless you post also as INCONFUSAUNOT he was not responding to a post by you. Do you post using multiple handles?

Bust!!So your ‘insider knowledge’ that no one else in America has, tells you there is more or less an equal chance that they end up in one of these 3 conferences? That’s crazy, because if I were to guess I would say it’s about 38% MWC 37% CUSA and 35% PAC12
Usually why it’s called “insider” and why would anyone else in America care about lil ole UTEPSo your ‘insider knowledge’ that no one else in America has, tells you there is more or less an equal chance that they end up in one of these 3 conferences? That’s crazy, because if I were to guess I would say it’s about 38% MWC 37% CUSA and 35% PAC12
You also said “UTEP has their sights set on the Pac” and gave that happening a “25%” chance. That is not the same as saying UTEP has reached out only.lol, talk now and all we can do is wait and see if news down come out regarding Utep. Kane this was already covered. You’re bringing up the same thing I already addressed. Again that’s just my wishful thinking. I have no information supporting that the chances would even be close to that high. I also said after thinking about it, it’s probably closer to 10 or 15%. All I can say is Utep inquired what what it take to be considered and is being proactive to get into either conference. Many in here said Utep wasn’t being proactive and I wanted to correct that. You also said “UTEP has their sights set on the Pac” and gave that happening a “25%” chance. That is not the same as saying UTEP has reached out only.
If you believe it’s unlikely, then UTEP definitely does not have their sights set on it and the % is way way less than 25%.
Didn't hear that word nearly enough last weekend in Lake Charles.Bust!!
Ok then.Kane this was already covered. You’re bringing up the same thing I already addressed. Again that’s just my wishful thinking. I have no information supporting that the chances would even be close to that high. I also said after thinking about it, it’s probably closer to 10 or 15%. Also Natty was correct in saying it's Wilson that needs to get things moving not Senter.Ok then.
Yes, some think they’re not being proactive. Senter cannot just go out and say it. They want to believe he is the reason why or why not UTEP will leave or remain in CUSA.
Sure, but they’re both irrelevant to the decision. Team X either adds more value than UTEP or they don’t. Conference X will add whoever adds the most value. College sports is a big business, this isn’t 1975. Whoever is friends with Wilson or Senter won’t pass up more money so the Miners can join. Also Natty was correct in saying it's Wilson that needs to get things moving not Senter.
I agree with that. We can make a decent argument that UTEP basketball is a good addition for any conference along with cross country, track and field. Problem is that dead corpse that is UTEP football.Sure, but they’re both irrelevant to the decision. Team X either adds more value than UTEP or they don’t. Conference X will add whoever adds the most value. College sports is a big business, this isn’t 1975. Whoever is friends with Wilson or Senter won’t pass up more money so the Miners can join.
Well here’s the thing….. it’s technically not. Hear me out…. Utep football sucks, but still averages more than more than half of G6 teams. When we do win we are in the top tier of G6 schools. So the fan base and the history of the Sun bowl may help a bit. Ultimately though yes Utep football is a traditional loser and that does hurt, but there are ways to twist the perspective a bit.I agree with that. We can make a decent argument that UTEP basketball is a good addition for any conference along with cross country, track and field. Problem is that dead corpse that is UTEP football.
The positive thing is that the pickings are slim, and not many schools will make the jump from the AAC or Sun Belt. The PAC will most likely up their offers to the AAC schools and offer to pay higher percentages of their buyout. If not, then UTEP could be in the running there.Sure, but they’re both irrelevant to the decision. Team X either adds more value than UTEP or they don’t. Conference X will add whoever adds the most value. College sports is a big business, this isn’t 1975. Whoever is friends with Wilson or Senter won’t pass up more money so the Miners can join.
That’s a 3 day old article dudeTexas State, UTEP remain active in conference realignment chatter
Mountain West, Pac-12 expansion could still impact Texas State, UTEP after UTSA, others reaffirm commitment to AACwww.texasfootball.com
Don't know how reliable their info is but...
Yeah they posted on Twitter a couple hours ago and realized afterwards it was just a repost. Oh well. That’s a 3 day old article dude
