They need to win two of their last three, with games against ULL, Idaho, and South Alabama. The latter two have losing records and ULL is 4-4.

I give them better than even odds of pulling it off. It would be nice to see NMSU end their bowl drought.

What makes you think NMSU can't beat ULL? NMSU lost to Troy by 3, and they're better than ULL. NMSU has a chance in all three games; ULL will be the toughest.

ULL is jekyl and hyde so who knows which ULL team will show up against gags? NMSU has to grab it with both hands because once again a lucky few 5 win teams will be bowl bound again this year as reported by ESPN or Fox. I can't remember. The NCAA is looking to cut some of them down in the near future. This will hurt CUSA and the Sun Belt.

On the Bowl topic. My feeling is that we do have too many bowl games. We should never have to send a team with a losing record to a bowl game to fill a space. It dilutes the value and importance of bowl games. We would only have to cut a few lower tier bowls to do this. But there is an exception. A few years ago, Georgia Tech was in the Sun Bowl game with a 6-7 record. They had played in the ACC's championship game and lost. A mathematical oddity. People complained about it then, (including me), about how low the Sun Bowl was sinking. Georgia Tech played USC, which thought their shit didn't stink and were too good for El Paso. Georgia Tech thumped them 21-7, which I enjoyed the hell out of. But a team like that should be the occasional exception, not the rule.

To hell with NuMbSkUll. They can discuss their pipedream bowl hopes om their own board.

What news station do you work for? You never stated.

It's not a pipedream that they will make a bowl. They have a very good chance.

Last time I checked this was Miner forum. I don’t understand how some so called Miner fans can cheer for our top rivals. I don’t care to know anything about nmsu and their chances of making a bowl game. Do you all think UT fans cheer for ATM or vice versa? The answer is NO, it doesn’t happen.

UNM is NMSU's rival. It's sad to say, but I don't think UTEP currently even has a rival. Reggie Theus revived the rivalry and the rivalry died after he left. When was the last time a UTEP vs, NMSU sporting event was sold out? It's been a long time.

Who ****en cares if they go to a bowl game.......
Because I think it helps elevate the football product in our forgotten corner of the country if NMSU finally goes to a bowl game. They're our main rivals, but they've been terrible for half a century. If NMSU improves and starts going to bowl games, it will give us a much-needed prod to improve. It's good for UTEP football if the level of play in our region improves.

I think the important thing here is that they are doing it with less money, not as good facilities and being kicked out of a conference. Good for them if they make It. UTEP should be ashamed.

This is somebody who gets it!

NMSU is the enemy. I will NEVER cheer for them.

What news station do you work for? You said it is illegal and a coach can be sued if he calls the parent of a student and tell them they are having trouble. You never followed up on that. Were you wrong?

NMSU won today, so if they win next week they will have 6 wins. However, I heard on the radio that after today there are exactly 78 6-win teams needed to fill all the bowl slots. Wouldn't it be funny if NMSU became the 79nth, and ended up as the only 6-win team left out of the bowls?

According to this, there are now 79 bowl eligible teams after Utah won tonight. There are only 78 spots available. Florida State and NMSU will potentially increase the number up to 81 next week. Louisiana Lafyette could possibly become 82, but they really dropped the ball today losing at home to a 1 win Georgia Southern team, next week they will face a tough game at Appalachian State.

In the past few years, a number of 5 win teams were needed each year, because there weren’t enough 6 win teams to fill the bowls. Now in the only year that NMSU becomes bowl eligible also happens during the only year when there are more 6 win teams than needed! The Sun Belt is supposed to have 5 bowl tie-ins, so would the extra CUSA teams get left out?

They are currently 4 bowl eligble Sun Belt teams. NMSU and Louisiana Lafayette both have 5 wins, so they will be vying for the last spot.

Wow you know things suck when we are talking about how the Aggies are doing on this board...

FAK the GAGS! Pathetic GAG lovers! Most of the GAG posters are a bunch or rookies too! I wonder if it's one person with different personas....hmmmm
