SFA OPT

Ahhh that familiar feeling of dread that can only mean that UTEP football is back.

Team pulls a Buffalo and come out arrogant, sloppy and out coached. Missed tackles and penalties have UTEP losing till they pull it together and score on the final drive. Need a two pt conversion to tie and either have a bad snap or a hold to end the game.

Sounds about right.
Teams come out and gets popped in the mouth by a FCS school a la NAU (except for Hotchkins who delivered as advertised).

This tweet by Canales irks me because the players want to play, the coaches need to put them in position to win.

He's not lying though. If the team is going to be good, the players need to put in more time than just when the coaches are around. Coaches can only do so much. Players have to take it on themselves a little to be better and more prepared.

I'm like a battered person when it comes to UTEP football. I know they mistreat me but I keep coming back for more. But I'm so frayed that I can't fathom predicting a UTEP win. My only hope is they stop abusing me, though I know I should just walk away.

Complete toss up. I can see this going either way but UTEP gets the slight edge.

If this was against one of the better Southland teams like Central Arkansas or Sam Houston then UTEP would be underdogs.

I agree. But I don't want another year of bald spots on my head from the play calling. Between Dimel and Kugler, my head and liver can't take anymore.

3 of our starting DB's are room mates sharing an apartment. The risk has always been if 1 of them got COVID, that we could essentially lose our starting secondary for two weeks.
Covid planning should have forced different housing situations, one would think.

Do the math on that one, not realistic if you have them every day in a hour for the season.
Yeah, I was thinking maybe just a different combo of players rooming together, one starter per room. Something like that where you don't risk your entire starting defensive backfield and don't have all the QB's in one apartment on campus. Just some common sense during the pandemic. That's all I ask.

Who’s going to the game and who wants to have a drink beforehand? I also have an extra ticket if anyone wants to sit in my section.

if our 2 starting corners are out its going to be rough. We really need a pass rush.

Also I'm really hoping that the staff doesn't claim that they are trying to hold back with Wadley to keep him healthy. He needs to touch the ball 25 times (not 10). Let him break out. This year is a wash anyway.

That's a bit optimistic. It's preseason though.

According to the Times the cornerbacks had stomach aches and are expected to be back for the game. As a precaution they have to wait for results from covid testing.

Never understood the lack of touches for Wadley. He is a talent that has been very underutilized throughout his college career.

2nd Year for Coach Colby Carthel who came in and had to play over 50 true freshmen during the course of the 2019 season.

The Jacks went 3-9 (two of those losses in OT) won two of last 3 games of the 2019 season.

Had back to back top FCS recruiting classes, including back to back top recruits
DT: Carl Williams 6-2; 356

With all the true freshmen play last season and transfers, this is a very deep team.

The secondary is the strength of this defense with 7 seniors.
