Toledo actually played defense when it counted and kept Ark out of the end zone. Ark outgained them 500 to 300 yards and had 30 first downs to 15 but Toledo played D in the red zone. Toledo could not run the ball but passed for 237 yards with 21 completions which is 11 yards per pass. Not exactly deep throws. Having a D that can tackle in space and then hold them in the red zone is what won the game for Toledo. That's easy to explain. Being one dimensional is a killer. Toledo ran the offensive equalizer, the spread. Lastly, and this is the kicker for sure, Toledo actually threw the ball to their WRs. Imagine that.
