UTEP Football Roster

Maybe they don't want to throw a young red shirt freshman to the mix just yet? Hey nothing wrong with letting a freshman mature rather than crushing him before he's ready.
I understand that part. That’s why Kugler brought in Showers to let Leftwhich and Metz develop. Once he realized those two weren’t the answer he brought in Greenlee. On paper he had the right idea. Bring in a P5 transfer and a G5 transfer that could play immediately. Those were the kind names that brought hope and made us think we were heading in the right direction.

I’m sorry IMO bringing in a backup juco from a team that’s probably worse than UTEP doesn’t spark much optimism.

Maybe that’s the solution and Dimel discovered the next all conference player that no other FBS or FCS coach could recognize.

Yep. And that was year 1 with Kugler. Dimel is on year 3 and still has never found a QB.

Well, this season will tell us if he has or has not found a QB. If either Goodwin or Hardison step up and deliver then he has finally found one. We thought he found one when Locksley signed on but that did not work out. I'm not overly optimistic like I usually am but I'm hopeful that we have 2 good QB's. Looking forward to that 1st game against whoever just to see if we have an improved team or not.

UTEP could have Jerry Rice, Desmond Howard, and Calvin Johnson at wide receiver, doesn’t mean shit if the ball isn’t thrown accurately to them.
You saw Hardison’s stats in hs. He played for a loaded juco team that finished last in their conference and wasn’t able to showcase his skills. The amount of schools we beat out for him makes me feel comfortable that he will step in without a flinch and duplicate that success he had in Hobbs NM.

Cooper is the 2nd guy to do this. Josh Fields did it last year, but he was at Georgia Southern for a minute. Never seen that before.
True. Add the Hawkins/Lathon departure/arrival from last season and it’s looking like a trend at UTEP athletics.

Yeah, that was a mess too. I don’t remember the sequence of events, but Lathon left for “family reasons” and Hawkins left for “play time”. Once Hawkins saw Lathon was leaving, he was fine I’ll just stay. Then I believe Lathon came back and Hawkins was “screwed”. Didn’t really matter as the season floundered and they transferred after anyway.

I'm still pissed about losing Stroud. CRT messed up by not playing him more. The guy he brought in to play (Archie) was a flop.

Stroud has been practicing all summer with Jalen Green and looks really good. Looks like his game is maturing quickly. SMH. Kennedy better be the shit.

Your sarcasm drips from every word. If Hardison does well this season I'm sure your tone will turn from sarcasm to hypocrisy.

We’re all allowed opinions. If he turns out to be a banger then I’ll gladly be wrong. I rather UTEP be successful than me right. I’m sorry I’m not happy with him as the starter. 260 D1 schools passed up on him. If UTEP hadn’t offered him he wouldn’t be playing D1 football. I stopped drinking the orange kool aid after 20+ years of disappointment.

1.) I was putting the breaks on the Hardison talk last year on this board, when some people were treating him like the next Elway. That being said, I certainly feel like he needs to be placed in the "TBD, with good potential upside" category. At minimum, the positive is that he appears to have the physical tools and skill set to become successful. He has not started a college game yet at any level(neither JC nor D1), but that might not necessarily be the major red flag or poor indication on his talent/potential. I still feel better about his potential future at QB, than when for instance, we entered the season with Mack Leftwich as our starter.

2.) When Dimel was talking about the WR's recently, he mentioned Q Drennan as a "player who can add some good depth". It certainly did not sound like Q. had made any type of overwhelming impression. There was also probably a reason why Drennan didn't have any other offers and was basically begging to be picked up on Twitter, prior to UTEP giving him that chance. I think he could have certainly helped in some way, but I would take the trade of getting Cooper back and losing Q any day.

3.) Speaking of Cooper. This one kinda surprises me, because he had apparently "burned some bridges with his teammates" prior to entering the transfer portal. He does have ability to help us, I just hope that his return doesn't create any type of team chemistry problems.

Unless your handle rhymes with AutoToy or BlowTins.

UTEP has basically sucked this past decade and we get called “Aggies” or slurs when we bring it up. Lol

Dude, I won't speak to AB because I quit interacting with him for fear that I was dealing with someone with mental issues / mental under-development.

As for you, I've told you before that you make really good points. But you take a gallon of good points and throw them in an ocean of negativity and antagonism before you present them. They get lost in that ocean, man. You'd do yourself well to stop doing that.

That’s who I am when it comes to UTEP. You don’t want negativity, okay. Tell me the positives of UTEP athletics right now. And “planning to play in 2020” with 70 other schools ain’t one.

There's always tomorrow. I mean, that statement is about hope, man. It's about people simply showing a little love for "my" team.

Everyone here is fully aware of UTEP's futility on the field and on the court. Yet, you seem to want to keep beating everyone over the head about that.

We know. We all know. The beatings from Mr. NoWins can stop. The horse has long been dead. Further beatings from Mr. NoWins will not bring that horse back to life.

Engage in thoughtful discourse, man. You are a smart guy with valid -- and good -- points to make. Quit drowning them in the aforementioned ocean.

And with that, I will stop. I've said my piece. It's on you now, Mr. NoWins. Peace.

I wasn't too upset when Cooper left. I'm not overly thrilled to have him back.

31 career receptions
0 touchdowns

Oh well, welcome back. Hope he has a career year.

If I’m not mistaken doesn’t that put him as our #2 returning wr with experience? Look at the stats of our returning receivers.

My sources tell me Cooper returned only after he sat thru one of Dimels famous PowerPoint presentations. Senter was also in attendance as he insists on attending as many of Dimels presentations as he can.

I love your sarcasm! :D:D:D
