Just trying to keep things light and positive, you know? People get a bit sensitive around here when anyone dares to mention the actual state of our program.
Sounds like you forgot about our 7-6 NM Bowl participant season in 2021. It’s hard to replicate such greatness.
Oh, how could that slip my mind? That iconic season that set us back three years and burned through nearly $700k! Pure genius on Senter’s part to think one 7-6 season was worth handing Dimel two extra years and a raise. Honestly, do we ever make a misstep?
Just saying, fans of big schools don’t accept 10-2 seasons after awhile. Here at UTEP, we continuously hear “he needs 5 seasons” every single time. That’s just to have a mediocre bowl season, not even to compete for a conference championship.
Careful with the complaints, you’ll get labeled a troll. Better to stick to compliments only!

We wanted Dimel out after 2019, 2020, and 2022. Senter STILL brought him back for 2023. All it did was set UTEP back another year.
Dimel inherited crappy El Paso players and stupidly did not kick most of them out. He honored all the scholarships. He didn’t have a transfer portal.
This guy has his own players. As far as I’m concerned, he has next year to get 5+ wins or he should be fired. He’s somehow worse than Dimel at offense.
Why do we always have to wait here??
In all my time following UTEP football, I’ve yet to see a coach succeed just because we decided to “wait and be patient.” But hey, maybe this is the one magical time patience finally pays off.
If you're of the viewpoint that we should fire coaches after 1-2 years, then pony up that buyout $$$ and embrace the lack of any semblance of stability
Nord had his "five-year plan" to develop players and it did pay off in the players he left to Price.
I’m of the viewpoint that we shouldn’t be handing out contracts we can’t afford to buy out if things go south. Yes I love our stability of always finishing last…
Could Nord have achieved what Price did using Nord’s own players?
Probably not, but did Price ever build a team like that with his own players? (Although he did maintain some level of talent on offense.)

Just tired of all the excuses. We had a full squad and still managed to lose games and even to the likes of a sub .500 FCS team. The relentless cheerleading is as frustrating as the “trolling” at this point.
Good job, hiring a coach that may be young, but actually has been coaching for a while now... That still has "a lot" of learning to do! Terrible. Walden better give up play calling for next year... I remember early on he said " Why would I give up play calling? When it's worked, don't fix what's not broken"

Three years is fair at UTEP. Problem is, we keep dudes forever... unless they cheat on their wives and have to skip town.
UTEP missed the boat when Mike Price was going 4-8 for like 6 years in a row. He did well to raise expectations and build a foundation. Would have been interesting to see what kind of coach we would have gotten after say 2008.
And our incompetent AD that got a contract extension a few years ago and will get another extension.
No, we don't, nor do we play the strength of schedule of "big schools." No one expects us to beat the Tennessees, Houstons, and Louisiana States of the world, but we should be able to compete with the Middle Tennessee States, Sam Houston States, and Louisiana Techs of the world, rather than being their perennial doormat. I've already said that I don't believe in firing a coach after year 1, but I'm not happy with anything I've seen from Walden so far, except, potentially, his recruiting ability. If there aren't significant improvements next season I will join the chorus calling for his head.
Special Teams play has been atrocious. Some cats on staff need to be relieved of their duties for 2025.
Well when your starting QB and the backup go down and you’re resigned to a true freshman lost QB and your top WR is out what do you expect?
Excuses excuses excuses. This team looker awful before any of those injuries.
Before that LA Tech game where Locklear went out we were 1-6. In that one win, FIU lost their starting QB in the 1st quarter, lost their second string QB in the 2nd half, and were down to third string QB. If it's unfair to count these last two losses against the Miners due to the QB situation, then I guess it's unfair to count our single win as well. That would leave us at 0-6, under that logic, rather than 1-8. Yeah, much better.
Seriously? Yes, he's had a solid game today, but we're playing Kennesaw State! How about Skyler over the course of this season, leading one if the worst offenses in the country? I'll grant you that he's a better QB than Pickles, but if you believe that he's had a great year under center then I don't know what games you've been watching. If we hold on to win this Locklear will be 2-6 on the season. I'm excited to see the statue we're going to build for him.
How can you conclude that after the game Locklear and Kam Thomas had today. We would’ve won last week and beaten LA Tech previously and have 4 wins now.
They were both in the lineup when we lost to so Utah. And we easily couldve lost today's game. I wouldn't bet anything on the results of the previous two games being much different with just them two playing being the only difference.
Optimism is for when the game is being played and we're still in it. Between the games we need to be realistic.
