Since it looks like we will have a very good crowd for the opener vs UNT, UTEP needs to have their prime recruits visit that weekend. Good impressions and all that.

Chase Silva, hs qb from Colorado, commits to UTEP. Had an offer from EKU and interest from Iowa State. Threw for 1,100 his senior year. Looks like he might be joining the team right away but not sure.
That's what his hudl vid says. Could be an error. It also says his hs career had 6308 passing yards and 837 rushing and a 65% completion rate. Odd to bring in another qb in the middle of camp.
He only played in 6 games. Only had 3 turnovers also.
I remember reading or hearing that during open tryouts (every program has to allow an open tryout to any interested student) under Kugler a candidate had to run at or under a specific time (100 yard dash) to even get a whiff from the staff. I have no clue how other programs do it, but right now "beggars can't be choosers" under the Dimel regime.
Pretty much anyone who played a down of high school football will get excited then 99% of them will get sent home. Of the remaining people maybe one makes practice team if he's lucky and never suits for a single game.
I know Rabedeaux did not hold open tryouts and would have his assistants lie their behinds off to students to prevent them from trying out.
