Well now that Texas St. is out that would seem like a wise move. I know Tarleton St. is talking to the MWC, but I think MWC needs to Bolster the football side and N. Illinois and Toledo would help! So then C. It is lol

C. UTEP, UNLV, SJSU, Wyoming, Nevada, UNM, Air Force, Hawaii (Football), N. Illinois (Football), Toledo (Football) St. Mary’s (Basketball), Grand Canyon (Basketball)

Boom Done!
No. They need 1 more full-time member.

safe to assume unm is blocking nmsu’s entrance into the mwc?
Can 1 school, especially UNM have that much power? I hate NMSU as much as the next guy but if we’re talking recent history, controversies aside NMSU might be the best program in this area. Bowl wins, NCAA Tournament births….. shootings……. forced hazing/sexual assaults…… I’m thinking they shot themselves in the foot with all of that stuff.

Tarleton will get scooped before SHSU.
Yeah that’s definitely the way it looks and probably even Sac St. I was just hoping whoever MWC goes after was already FBS, but I guess James Madison, UTSA, Georgia St. Jacksonville St, Coastal Carolina etc… I can go on and on have already showed that all they need is a year or two and they’ll all be better than us anyways! Smh I wish I was joking too lol

Now my question is how will being in the mountain west impact recruiting? Will it not make any difference ? Will we be able to be in the market for players that we didn’t have a chance with before ?

Great job to the athletic department sealing the deal. Probably fell into their lap but they still got it done and didn't screw it up. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. I went ahead and donated to the Miner athletic club and the basketball NIL tonight as a show of my appreciation and their good work. Sounds like they were reading our posts 😁

Who does the Pac take? NMSU? Sac St? They're running out of options

The PAC is absolutely out of options. Texas State could have been in the MWC but instead held out for the AAC but that appears to be unavailable to them. They seemingly don't want either the MWC or the PAC. Good for them. They are still in a good place in the SBC getting two million per year in their current conference. Not a bad place to be, really.

But the PAC is kinda fvcked at this point. They desperately need to get into Texas but have no takers. No Texas also means far less TV money for the PAC. The five MWC deserters may end up regretting their decision to leave. Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell. But the PAC with no remaining options to get Memphis or to get into Texas has far less value to ESPN or any other media company.

Gives a whole light to the now deleted tweet from the volleyball coach about "We won't do anything that sets UTEP athletics back just to be in a league that used to be a household name"

I wonder if we were the first choice then Texas St? Or did Texas St turn them down and we were the second choice? Were we invited together? If Texas St doesn't join, do they add NMSU? Do they add NMSU regardless?

I can't imagine UTEP taking a long time for the decision. I think that we will accept the invitation at some point tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest unless we blow it somehow.
Knowing what we know now, Texas St might have been the first choice and they turned the MWC down so MWC invited us. Or were we invited together? If we were next in their pecking order Texas St did us a favor.

Maybe they throw the bag at Campos and Texas-San Antonio?

The initial report stated Memphis, Tulane, and South Florida were offered. Texas-San Antonio lumped themselves in there.

Dude, the AAC ship sailed a few days ago. No AAC school is moving.

I’d say get Tarleton St. since it seems that school is willing to do whatever it takes financially to move up. Then try and add Toledo and N. Illinois for Football only and St. Mary’s and Grand Canyon for Basketball and call it a day. That would put MWC behind PAC 12 and close to, but right below AAC and slightly ahead of Sun Belt for football and a consistent 2 or 3 bid league in Basketball.
