No. They need 1 more full-time member.Well now that Texas St. is out that would seem like a wise move. I know Tarleton St. is talking to the MWC, but I think MWC needs to Bolster the football side and N. Illinois and Toledo would help! So then C. It is lol
C. UTEP, UNLV, SJSU, Wyoming, Nevada, UNM, Air Force, Hawaii (Football), N. Illinois (Football), Toledo (Football) St. Mary’s (Basketball), Grand Canyon (Basketball)
Boom Done!
They know the PAC needs them. I don’t see the PAC convincing the AAC schools to bail.
safe to assume unm is blocking nmsu’s entrance into the mwc?One and done: UNM and NMSU men's basketball will now play just once a season
Twice was nice, but it's now one and done for the annual in-state hoops rivalry between the UNM Lobos and NMSU Aggies.www.abqjournal.com

I would rather have LaTech than Tarleton, but if their media partners say otherwise, then you take a Texas teamSo with Texas State out I guess Tarleton is up. Interesting that Tarleton was higher on the priority list than NMSU. I would have even thought La Tech would be better.
No, not really. Repetition on El Paso market is why they won’t be considered until there are no other options.safe to assume unm is blocking nmsu’s entrance into the mwc?
Can 1 school, especially UNM have that much power? I hate NMSU as much as the next guy but if we’re talking recent history, controversies aside NMSU might be the best program in this area. Bowl wins, NCAA Tournament births….. shootings……. forced hazing/sexual assaults…… I’m thinking they shot themselves in the foot with all of that stuff.safe to assume unm is blocking nmsu’s entrance into the mwc?
There still could be a possibility of the MWC getting to 10. Maybe in the future? We'll see.I would rather have LaTech than Tarleton, but if their media partners say otherwise, then you take a Texas team
Oh yeah so it has to be Sam Houston St or Tatleton St. thanks for clarifyingNo. They need 1 more full-time member.
And they should get to 10 or higher. There still could be a possibility of the MWC getting to 10. Maybe in the future? We'll see.
Tarleton will get scooped before SHSU.Oh yeah so it has to be Sam Houston St or Tatleton St. thanks for clarifying
Yeah that’s definitely the way it looks and probably even Sac St. I was just hoping whoever MWC goes after was already FBS, but I guess James Madison, UTSA, Georgia St. Jacksonville St, Coastal Carolina etc… I can go on and on have already showed that all they need is a year or two and they’ll all be better than us anyways! Smh I wish I was joking too lolTarleton will get scooped before SHSU.
Coaches and NIL matter more than anything else at this level. Now my question is how will being in the mountain west impact recruiting? Will it not make any difference ? Will we be able to be in the market for players that we didn’t have a chance with before ?
Who does the Pac take? NMSU? Sac St? They're running out of optionsSounds like they’re out of the Pac too

I still think they’re negotiating with some AAC schools. No way these guys take Sac St. or NMSU.Who does the Pac take? NMSU? Sac St? They're running out of options
Gives a whole light to the now deleted tweet from the volleyball coach about "We won't do anything that sets UTEP athletics back just to be in a league that used to be a household name"The PAC is absolutely out of options. Texas State could have been in the MWC but instead held out for the AAC but that appears to be unavailable to them. They seemingly don't want either the MWC or the PAC. Good for them. They are still in a good place in the SBC getting two million per year in their current conference. Not a bad place to be, really.
But the PAC is kinda fvcked at this point. They desperately need to get into Texas but have no takers. No Texas also means far less TV money for the PAC. The five MWC deserters may end up regretting their decision to leave. Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell. But the PAC with no remaining options to get Memphis or to get into Texas has far less value to ESPN or any other media company.
They can't afford the 4 that they wanted. Maybe they settle for 2?I still think they’re negotiating with some AAC schools. No way these guys take Sac St. or NMSU.
Just read an interesting article, about how much Tarleton has invested in Athletics! New improved stadium that had better attendance than us last year, new 8,500 seat arena. They are putting their money where their mouth is for sure!
Maybe they throw the bag at Campos and Texas-San Antonio? They can't afford the 4 that they wanted. Maybe they settle for 2?
Knowing what we know now, Texas St might have been the first choice and they turned the MWC down so MWC invited us. Or were we invited together? If we were next in their pecking order Texas St did us a favor.I wonder if we were the first choice then Texas St? Or did Texas St turn them down and we were the second choice? Were we invited together? If Texas St doesn't join, do they add NMSU? Do they add NMSU regardless?
I can't imagine UTEP taking a long time for the decision. I think that we will accept the invitation at some point tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest unless we blow it somehow.
Maybe they throw the bag at Campos and Texas-San Antonio?
The initial report stated Memphis, Tulane, and South Florida were offered. Texas-San Antonio lumped themselves in there.
I honestly prefer NMSU a million times than Tarleton or SHSUCan 1 school, especially UNM have that much power? All great ideas. I know MWC really wants into Texas, but you’re probably right. Getting Hawaii for all sports would help and NMSU and if you want Texas I’d pick Sam Houston St. instead. It’s also been mentioned La Tech. There are far better FBS choices than going the route of of Tarleton St, but MWC seems to be enamored with them for some reason.I would add NMSU. There will be some guaranteed large attendance games, plus they’re already FBS.
Let the PAC deal with FCS teams.
Also curious as to why they just won’t get Hawaii out of the Big West?

You guys don't get it. Hawaii is a money pit if you have to fly all your non-football teams that don't generate any revenue out there. All great ideas. I get that and I acknowledged that they have big backers and money to burn. Also that they are improving facilities to FBS and D-1 level. My preference is just that the MWC adds already established FBS teams. With that said I’m just happy to be at he MWC table to have these types of discussions lolYou guys don't get it. Hawaii is a money pit if you have to fly all your non-football teams that don't generate any revenue out there.
And while we may prefer NMSU because they're already FBS... inviting them is redundant since the MW already has the El Paso market by adding UTEP. Only way the Aggies get in is if the MW decides it wants strength in numbers or they get turned down by other options.
Tarleton is a geographic player with deep pockets as an added bonus. I don't love the idea but that's what makes them prettier than LA Tech, SHSU and NMSU.
