On Itunes, when you click on R&B, Khalid's new album is one of the primary banners displayed at the top of the page. Apple is advertising him right next to some of Prince's greatest hits. That is impressive, especially because this advertisement is for a Pre-Order of his album.

He seems to be really proud of being from El Paso. I wish him the best and hope he makes it.

Americas high school represent

Speaking of Americas High School, UTEP football has now signed one player from there in each of the past 3 seasons. After 3 years in a row, it has become a pipeline for us.

The music scene in general is doing pretty good. I know the EDM scene is doing really well, some of the big EDM stars have singled out El Paso as a good place to play. With Rap and R & B, you also have Evander Grimm getting Gucci Mane to record with him. Finally, with Rock you got Omar Rodriguez-Lopez bringing artist to El Paso to record with him. So a good time to be a fan of music in El Paso.

Khalid tweeted out that he will be performing on The Tonight Show next week. So he is officially big time. Congrats to him!



He has a nationwide tour coming up as well. It wouldn't be a bad idea for UTEP marketing to send a box of UTEP jerseys and UTEP hats out to him. He is proud to be from El Paso and it would be great to see him wearing some UTEP gear on stage one evening.
