"Speaking to the Ukrainian news outlet Pravda Ukraine, Maj. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov said that there was an “unsuccessful” attempt against the Kremlin leader’s life at the start of Russia’s brutal invasion of its neighbor.

“Putin was assassinated,” Budanov told the news outlet. “He was even attacked in the line of, as they say, representatives of the Caucasus not so long ago. This is nonpublic information. Absolutely unsuccessful attempt, but it really took place. … It was about two months ago.....

Sky News noted that Budanov’s prediction that Russia would invade this year — at a time when other officials were skeptical — had been correct.”

What I dont understand about school shootings, is after everyone of these we have politicians and celebrities wanting to take away guns. They have their virtue signaling and outrage.

But my question is, how do schools still have shooters get on campus?

I have seen schools in which you have to walk down 2 or 3 hallways before you get to the main office. And I've seen schools that you cannot get passed reception without being buzzed in.

The government will spend trillions to build back better, how about building safer school design?

What is so damn hard about installing locked doors that open only from the inside. EVERY retail store has them.
How would that improve anything? If you’re walking out of school with your kid and you see another human walking in, you’re not going to hold the door open for them? Slam it in their face huh?

Be safe for what a year? “When there's a will there's a way”. There’s nothing to stop someone from coming off the street and opening fire on a crowd of kids waiting to be picked up. Or people waiting outside of WalMart on Black Friday. Or people inside Peter Piper on a Friday night. Or a group volunteering at a soup kitchen.

A person can do anything they want to.

True, or someone plowing into a crowd with a Truck.

But everytime there is a school shooter, their is always talk of reform and nothing is ever done. Every Public School is built with Taxpayer money and no one really goes in front of Congress and says, we need to have single entry buildings. Not just for School shootings. But their are alot of crap that goes on in school lobbies with parents who don't have a right to see their kids trying to pick them up.

We also need to give the school more teeth in dealing with dumbasses.

Get rid of them. If a kid is a POS, he shouldn't be given 8000 chances over 12 years. First Time he has a major malfunction, get rid of him. Tell the parents to go somewhere else. Maybe then parents will stand up to their POS kids.

You know the schools are funded primarily funded by local taxes and state funds?
The Federal gov only provides about 12% give or take for K-12 public schools. So not all school districts are created equal. I sincerely doubt conservatives would want to spend more money in places like Texas for public schools. And if they did provide funding for these mini fortresses you describe, they'll do it at the expense of actual learning.

Yes I know. Been a Teacher/Coach for 20 years.

Another dumb ass statement. You know nothing about me or probably 99% of the other people on this board. Your just full of hate. Later clown.

So how can you question why some schools are more secure than others? Money and not Federal money, state and local money, that's why.

Have you ever tried to check into a Holiday Inn Express at 2am? There are 2 sets of doors. You have to wait to be buzzed in, there are cameras on you, maybe even a phone, and 1 person. Doesn't sound too expensive.

The federal government spent approximately 3 million dollars on every school in El Paso on Shields for desk, hand sanitizer, masks, air filtration, etc...

A reception at each school doesn't cost that much.

They already have this at the school my son attends. I had to pick him up one day and was “buzzed in” by some secretary type person. She had no way of knowing what I had in my pants or behind my back. So really, what good does it do? I could have easily had a few handguns around my waist and entered the school with no problem.

You can always go check out Santa Teresa HS, Chaparral, Gadsden, Sunland Park Elementary and see if a Deep Blue state in a poor community and see if your theory is true. Since Democrats care so much about the poor, disadvantaged, minorities, and the school system......the Gadsden District must be by far the nicest and best run schools in the area.

My son's school requires an ID to be buzzed in. Those who are family and friends scan their Drivers license, stand in front of their camera to verify it's you, then get buzzed in. Front main door only. Other doors are locked but can be opened from the inside. I highly doubt some idiot with weapons (AR15) could stand there and get let in.
My 9 year old son asked me this morning "but dad, couldn't they just shoot out the windows? They aren't bullet proof." He's not wrong... As we chatted about this horrible event because I KNEW they would discuss it today, I asked if he was worried or concerned about anything. He simply said "No dad. We practice things and I think my school is safe" We also discussed how hate is driving most of this craziness and he said "why do we need to hate anyone?"....gotta love the little dude I am raising....

While no civilian needs to own any automatic weapon, I wonder why someone.....ANYONE....didn't say how weird this kid was acting prior to yesterday! Schoolmates said he rarely was showing up for school, started talking crazy things.....Speak up!

Lol ….it’s like reading a Fox News article but the liberal version of it.
Most western countries are now embracing this academic study of the facts. The "whatabout'ism" (made popular by Sunday NBC Chuck Todd) actually is worse than taking a left or right issue.

iD check, parent, doesn’t matter, won’t stop someone from doing it. Again, that camera wouldn’t stop some parent from hiding a revolver or small gun in his pocket and shooting 6 people. I guess 6 dead is better than 18 right?

So what is your solution or what do you think will help the situation?

You're making some good points. In England they got rid of alot of guns and they had mass stabbings.

The weapon of choice is the most commonly proposed solution. That's why I agree with you to a certain extent. In Schools we practice Lockdowns for these situtations once per month and have a yearly required training. The Hope for me is that the extra barrier gives the teachers time to Lockdown their students.

In my school. The Front Office was once in the Front. But they've spent millions on additions and now the front office is in the middle of the school and hard to find. Security Breaches our very common.

I could argue that the right to bare arms could help protect our children. Look at it this way, someone breaks into your house carrying an illegal gun. They shoot to kill you. You can't shoot back to protect you and your family because the second amendment has been taken away from you. That's where you want this to go?

We must get to the source. It is people that do NOT think straight. It is not taking away our guns, beto.

Nobody is trying to take away 2A. The sooner you guys get that through your thick skulls the sooner we can all find common ground and start working towards a solution to the real problem.
