They were paying him 1.5 million and still had 3 years left in his contract. No way in hell UTEP would ever eat that contract. Makes me realize we most likely will never be a true contender in the G5 world.
NEVER (Unless someone with real money comes in and demands changes).
They were still paying the 1.8 million buyout for firing Bobo.
Goes to show that even at the G5 level we can't compete financially with 90% of the schools.
Goes back to what I have said, they won conference championships in the 90s and early 00s. So their fans and financial backers have “expectations” that fans of UTEP football do not.
So they built new facilities and still “suck”. New facilities aren’t a magic potion for winning.
No nonuts, dumb actually after just 16 games IF based on w’s vs l’s. My gut tells me there were other serious internal issues.
Stupid hire in the first place, now you want to commend them for canning him after 2 seasons? So where did the hire and fire treadmill get them? 2 crappy seasons, internal issues, lost cash and likely the same results from the last guy. Not about expectations, just stupid decision making at the front and back.
