Could they potentially be looking ahead to the big showdown and overlook us?OU plays Ohio State after us.

I think Stull already has a contract extension that runs through 2025 ready for Kugler to sign if he beats Arizona. Can a single win secure a coach's job? If Kugler beats OU, I would say yes.
OU is -45 right now with an over under around 62. That about 55-10 final score. Can a single win secure a coach's job? If Kugler beats OU, I would say yes.
UTEP has never beaten a Power 5 team
That's false. Spreading misinformation makes one seem uneducated.
1967 Sun Bowl.
I'm not that good of a historian. That is the last time we beat a P5 team or won a bowl game. This season will mark the 50 year anniversary.

I think the odds of utep winning are 50/50
The coin toss that is...
If Kugler beats Arizona or wins a bowl game he becomes football royalty in El Paso. Stull can point and say this man accomplished something that hadn't been done in half a century.
I think most of UTEP's P5 opponents have been money-game offerings against teams like Oklahoma. We've had a handful of winnable games against Texas Tech over the years and have come up just short a couple of times. Yeah, we brought in Texas (and Oklahoma) for a home game, but we never had a chance.
We need to play more games against the bottom P5 teams instead of the elites. Arizona this season is a rare opportunity. We need to try to schedule Iowa State or Wake Forest and the like, not Texas and Oklahoma and Wisconsin. That's the main reason we haven't beaten a P5 team in ages; because we're usually playing the good ones.
NMSU was lucky and caught Minnesota at the right time. Hopefully UTEP is similarly lucky catching Arizona at the right time, too.
[QUOTE="UTEP actually had a chance in 2012 against OU. It was 10-7 after the third quarter and Mike Price had a great game plan. Unfortunately OU was too much in the 4th quarter.

Special teams played a huge role in us not getting the upset. I believe we missed three field goals. The fake punt attempt early in the fourth was the nail in the coffin
NMSU finished 7-5 in 2002.They also beat ASU 35-7 in 1999. I believe that was the only time since their last bowl appearance where they had a winning record.
Over look us? With the coach we have all they have to do is prepare for the run by putting 8 guys on the line of scrimmage.Could they potentially be looking ahead to the big showdown and overlook us?
Ah, this made me laugh. My take, 58-3 . In typical Kugler fashion, he beats his chest and flexes his biceps as UTEP manages to win the time of possession.
