Sun Belt looking at ODU and James Madison for additions as well. CUSA looking at James Madison and Liberty.
No. Need 8 full time members. However, the conference (WAC/CUSA) might be given a grace period. If LT UTEP and NMSU join the WAC is that enough to make the league FBS?
WAC has 6 full time members. With us 3 that makes 9.No. Need 8 full time members. However, the conference (WAC/CUSA) might be given a grace period.
But at different levels. Has to be the same.WAC has 6 full time members. With us 3 that makes 9.
Why even mention that!? UTEP and La Tech most certainly will not drop football or go FCS, Period!UTEP, LaTech, and FIU have absolutely no options. It’s Independent or drop to FCS/kill football.
The ncaa allows 2 years for an fbs conference 2 get back to 8 full members.No. Need 8 full time members. However, the conference (WAC/CUSA) might be given a grace period.
Where though? Our best hope is that the fabulous five stay together and add NMSU and two FCS schools pronto.Going FCS or going independent will absolutely kill the Athletic program and recruiting IMO. We have to get into any conference at this point!
No matter how few schools are left in CUSA, we need to build it back up, even if invite the likes of Jacksonville St and Kennesaw St. It's about survival. No time to throw in the towel.Going FCS or going independent will absolutely kill the Athletic program and recruiting IMO. We have to get into any conference at this point!
Going independent in football and to the WAC for all other sports is probably the best hope UTEP has at this point. Not ideal, but beggars can't be choosers. Either way we're F**KED!Where though? Our best hope is that the fabulous five stay together and add NMSU and two FCS schools pronto.
I think that’s the best we can hope for, which doesn’t sound half bad right about now.Where though? Our best hope is that the fabulous five stay together and add NMSU and two FCS schools pronto.
El Paso isn’t Texas in terms of football. There is a lifeline here. If the MWC were looking to expand in Texas, which they were by trying to lure UTSA and UNT. Some even said it was a condition for Air Force and CSU to stay in the league. There will be very few options left once AAC sucks out all the east Texas schools. I know they've said they want to stand pat right now but Boise and SDSU could be called to a higher conference soon. You never know.
S.Miss is going to Sun BeltTime to create a new conference with UTEP, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, NMSU, Abilene Christian (FCS), Sam Houston State (FCS), Stephen F. Austin (FCS) and perhaps Tarleton State (FCS). Comparatively UTEP would be a much bigger fish in a smaller pond than they are now. UTEP would have advantages over most of the rest of the teams that they currently don't have in the current CUSA. Geographically it makes a whole lot of sense. Travel budgets would not need to be so big. Regional rivalries would be a big plus. Fans would be more likely to make the shorter trips to their opponents. With any luck UTEP could dominate and then be picked up by a MWC down the road.
My bad. You are right.S.Miss is going to Sun Belt
That conference already exists. You guys just need to join the WAC.Time to create a new conference with UTEP, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, NMSU, Abilene Christian (FCS), Sam Houston State (FCS), Stephen F. Which Texas State..... The Armadillos??? Cause that's the only Texas St. CUSA has a chance at. Maybe Scott Bakula can quantum leap us back to the point when we had a chance to go to the Mountain West and turned it down while we're at it! In all seriousness Texas St. is in a much better situation in the Sun Belt, they ain't coming!Maybe Texas State, if you can pull them in.
In other words UTEP, LT, and NMSU should join the WAC....Time to create a new conference with UTEP, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, NMSU, Abilene Christian (FCS), Sam Houston State (FCS), Stephen F. Not exactly the WAC. Only pull the teams from Texas (minus UTRG) from the WAC. Why travel to Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State (Alabama) or Dixie State (Utah)? Focus on the region. In other words UTEP, LT, and NMSU should join the WAC....

People complain about the difficult travel to EP. How hard is the travel going to be to North Dakota?Lot of North Dakota State Fans would like to see the Bison get an invite.
If NDSU joins CUSA, they'd be a contender from Day 1.

I get that, I was just thinking out loud... or through my keyboard rather lolThis is fan chatter. I am not aware of any actual rumors or interest. Just that NDSU fans would want to join a G5 Conference
Lol. Yeah, Dakota teams have a great desire to be in a conference with UTEP, LaTech, and FIU!North Dakota State and South Dakota State would be best case scenario.
We need a good slump buster.I think we’re at the point where we lay with whomever will share their bed
