Well, I wonder what happens to Cade ? How many games did he play in-4? Does he get to keep the year? Is Walden bringing in someone next year, or are we stuck with Sky? Alot of questions. Hopefully Shay gets some playing time here down the line.

So basically Smith not good enough right now
Walden contradicts himself alot... He said Pickles is capable of throwing, but he chose not to. So he chose to lose as well? He also said, that he doesn't waste redshirts, but he sure did with Shay Smith. Leaving him with only 1 game left to play in, wasting a game on that kick off from a few weeks ago.

On a kickoff?? wow

While you correct about both, he can't throw Pickles under the bus and say that he can't throw.

I hope Walden learned a valuable lesson in roster management. If you’re going to burn those 4 games, burn them on meaningful moments, not some dumb sh*t like running down on a single kickoff.
I agree with others that have suggested coaches should forget about redshirting players. With the NIL and transfer portal, coaches should milk the players for all they can, while they can. If the players aren’t going to commit four years to the university, why should coaches give them an extra year to use up their eligibility?

I still think redshirts are fine for your bottom of the roster guys. I just would stop expecting them to stay all 4 years and contribute. Anyone that contributes well enough will be on to the next school.

That opens up a spot for UTEP to take on the Arizona transfers that never played of the world.

True, but he also recruited him... 😟Hopefully he lets him throw it a little, or they will lose for sure. MTSU has a decent QB and they will probably score enough to win, can UTEP keep up?
Yes, he absolutely needs to let him throw. It's going to be difficult to win if he throws 5 passes for the game. Hopefully a week and half of practice helps.

If the throwing is minimal, then you better throw in wrinkles. Like the triple option.

Who do they have at QB after Pickles and Smith?? I feel the way Walden uses his QBs they will get hurt. I think Walden needs to go after a grad transfer for next year.
I believe the other 2 QBs are from EP. Perhaps, Pickles shines, and becomes the 2nd coming of Tebow. Apparently he threw for over 10k yards in high school.

In some cases, I agree. But say you have a freshman whom you believe has tremendous potential, but he needs time in the weight room and more practice before he's ready to contribute. It makes sense to redshirt him, especially if he wasn't highly recruited. In this situation, where will this kid be able to transfer? Once that they've shown they can play, I agree, it makes no sense to save eligibility for another team.

Once in a while Fili makes a good, valid point, one which I completely agree with. This is one of those times. I imagine brisk sales for coats and gloves in Hell right about now.
