Sellout The Sun Bowl vs LaTech!

485 of the $14 tickets remain. I expect those to sell out by game time. Only 13,376 tickets on ticketmaster for sale.

To the surprise of no one, the tickets struggling to sell are priced at $50 & $70.

It might not be the crowd we want but it's definitely going to be the biggest crowd of the Dimel era. (Not including HBU)

What's your prediction?

That price point is too high for most folks. They need to have very few seats in that price range. UTSA also has trouble selling the higher priced seats. It's not just EP.

The endzone seats are almost gone! Sections 6, 7, and 8 are doing very well and 9 is starting to sell a lot more too. Obviously Sections 4 and 5 are the highest priced areas and still have quite of blue dots but still this is going to be a much better crowd in Dimels era to date. Should be a good one!

Not even UNT sells $70 tickets. Their most expensive seats are $50. These are prices before their 1-6 start. I'll keep an eye and see if they reduce them.

I'm calling out all media that attacks El Paso fans.

They should be asking UTEP why they set the prices in that range. Considering most of the higher end fans are buying the new fancy seats.

$14 and $20 tickets are selling good.

Don't forget section 6 is where current UTEP athletes sit at. They didn't sell those bottom rows.

Before I was called “cheap” and “it’s still better than (more expensive city) tickets!” Nice to see others see the whole picture.

Remember, Senter did this after 1 win season, 1 win season, and a 3 win season where they didn’t win a conference game. I believe he left ticket prices alone for Dimel’s first year. But raised them after.

Small, incremental increases you can get away with. Not unjustified raises to make more money. If you want to make more money, go play at Alabama instead of hosting UNM.

Yeah I hate to admit it but you're right. I think our cheap tickets are ok in the $12 range. But no other tickets should be more than $50. Even that's pushing it.

I'm going to stand by my prediction that the walk-up crowd puts it just over 20k. Part of understanding the "El Paso market" is the walk-up crowd.

The walk up crowd might just walk back to their car when they realize all the cheap tickets are gone and their best options are $20 and $30 tickets.

They should be $10 until regular results prove otherwise. It also makes no sense that LaTech is more expensive than UTSA and Rice. I’m all good with charging more for Texas Tech and other good teams. Not for CUSA opponents. Every game this year should have had the same price.

Senter should have sold $5-7 tickets for Bethune Cookman and had $1 hotdogs and sodas. Instead, here we are, “begging” fans to go and turnout for a game they have a real probability of losing.

I believe that there are some El Pasoans that are “old school”, but I don’t really think a lot of people just show up 1 hour before something and expect to walk right in. The Chihuahuas really killed that expectation their first couple of seasons.

Why would anyone choose to stand inline, when they can buy on their phone?

Last update before I hit the tailgate scene.

Section 10 is sold out and so is the party patio. Around 200, $14 tickets remain. And 12,500 overall on ticketmaster.

Enjoy the game wherever you're watching it from and hopefully tonight we'll celebrate bowl eligibility.

I believe NoWins is correct. Too many high priced tickets. The crowd looked better than th 18,400 but there would have been 35k to 40k if those $50 to $70 tickets were closer to $25 to $35.

The city complained they wanted a winner and UTEP has delivered. Even if UTEP comes from FIU 6-2 that home game vs UTSA could decide who wins the western conference title. I hope the university and media push that game hard because 13 days is more than enough time to build up the hype. A bowl eligible team in the hunt for a conference title should make price point irrelevant.

Those $50 and $ 70 dollar seats are where 80% of the season ticket holders are. They pay those prices. Season ticket holders are vital to any program. It would be insulting to the true fans who payed the prices to lower them.

I've said it time and time again. We have tried for probably ever to cater to the cheapos who inhabit El Paso. It's been a failure. They will always bitch no matter what the price point is. Complain about concessions parking etc. These people aren't going to donate money to the University. They aren't going to write checks for new facilities. They should not be catered to. Everyone is always asking how do we get more money for coaching salaries etc. This how you do it not by catering to people that can never move the needle. Keep winning and people will come. They will pay the prices. Don't give in to the "loser" El Paso mentality. Change the mentality.

I do not care if all of the $70 seats are bought by season ticket holders and they’re the richest of the rich. JCorona said the most expensive ticket to a UNT is $50; assuming he is correct, a ticket to a UTEP game should not cost more to a UNT game. UNT has a newer stadium and is in the “Dallas” area, which is significantly more wealthy than El Paso.

I am not advocating for $5 tickets every home game from now until 2100. You have to get a crowd in there to see how much fun it is and to see a winning team. Senter should have had like 10,000 $5 tickets for Bethune Cookman. The Chihuahuas have $5 tickets to every game and whether you agree or not, that sets the market for what some people are willing to pay for the worst seat somewhere.

Senter also had LaTech as a premium opponent and charged more for the game. They’re a nice program, but does anyone think we should be charged more to see a New Orleans Bowl participant? Tickets to UTSA and Rice are cheaper and I would venture to say 100% of UTEP fans would rather be in a conference with those schools than LaTech. Yes, it’s $2, but it’s the principle and is non sense.

Since Senter raised the ticket prices 3 straight years with bad teams, what do you think is going to happen next year?

On this we agree.

UNT has to compete with 1000 times more entertainment options in DFW than UTEP has to in El Paso. There is no competition with UTEP in El Paso. UNT has always struggled with attendance. I don't think they've ever sold out thier 30,000 seat stadium. They came close once against Houston.

I do not care what UNTs attendance is, UTEP tickets should not cost more than theirs. Their football team has accomplished a lot more the last 10 years than we have.

Yeah, you’re right a school that’s been to 5 bowl games and has a division title, and resides in a more wealthier city should have cheaper tickets than a school in a poor city, with constant losing.
We should have higher ticket prices. UTEP is 100 times more prominent in our market than UNT is in theirs.
