Sun Bowl renovations

At the rate they are going it’s just a matter of time, they are doing a complete overhaul of their athletic facilities .They are kicking ass in raising $$$$ for their athletics projects. They didn’t join the AAC with plans to play in their crappy arena for very long.

The network at Paycor processed data at a higher rate than the Super Bowl as traffic soared to 22.3Gbps. The previous high for an NFL game was 20.7Gbps recorded at Super Bowl LVI.

According to the Bengals' website, the team and Hamilton County partnered with altafiber and its IT Services subsidiary, CBTS, to engineer and build a new fiber-enabled Wi-Fi network at the start of the 2022 season. The new design called for more than 1,600 Access Points, including 1,100 deployed in the stadium seating bowl.

Key areas of growth include:

  • 76% increase in unique device connections per game
  • 436% increase in maximum data rate with average peak data rates reaching 10.7Gbps
  • 230% increase in data volume per game averaging 8.5TB transferred per game with 12.8TB transferred during Sunday's playoff game
"Paycor Stadium delivers a world-class Wi-Fi network that fans are using to the fullest extent," said Elizabeth Blackburn, Bengals director of Strategy and Engagement. "Sunday's record numbers and the growth we've seen all season emphasize the Bengals' commitment to ensure everyone in the stadium has access to high-quality, fast and reliable internet using the latest Wi-Fi technology."

During a virtual townhall meeting on Monday, Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte announced that a new indoor football facility is in the works for the Longhorn football program. Del Conte also announced other facility improvements to Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium related to branding, lighting, and more
Del Conte continued: “Once we get the practice facility identified and we start raising money for that, we’re going to go to grass at DKR. It’s just a timing issue, but I can assure you we all want to go to grass. (Steve Sarkisian) wants to go to grass, but we have to be on FieldTurf until that time because of the proximity for where we’re at and how much usage a field gets.
Del Conte also announced several other gameday improvements, including new concessions in the upper deck. Del Conte said there would be 22 new points of sale, more grab-and-go concessions, more craft cocktails on tap, and expanded collections for YETI drinkware.

Should post High School facilities . I bet they would put Utep to shame.

Sad, but instead of bitchin all the time donate some millions, or do some fundraising.

The Problem with this is that its been 50 years since the Board of Regents agreed to spend 10 million dollars on the Don Haskins Center. What has the University System done to help UTEP Athletics? What has UTEP done as a School done to invest?

UTEP owns all of its facilities free and clear.

What is the University doing with the money? TV Revenue, Ticket Revenue, NCAA Credit, Conference Defection Fees, Conference Acceptance Fees, Road Game Money Fees, etc......

There are multiple revenue streams coming in other than asking for a huge sum of money from a donor.

Agree and curious also. But with all things UTEP it’s kept a secret. You would think they are a private institution.

Kansas State University announced last week that construction has begun in Manhattan, Kan., on a new indoor track and field complex as the athletics department will transition the original football indoor building into a new facility for track and field.
When we announced our facilities master plan back in 2018, we anticipated transitioning the football indoor into a new track and field venue, and we feel like when it is completed, it will be a tremendous home for both training and competition," athletics director Gene Taylor said. "I know our coaching staff and student-athletes will benefit greatly from this enhancement, and we look forward to hosting more meets in the future."

Progress began several weeks ago on phase one of the project with the removal of the football turf playing field and will continue through the summer with upgraded lighting, paint and HVAC.

Wildcat athletes are expected to begin training in the new facility in December. The department will fund the project, which will cost approximately $12 million, through private gifts and department dollars.
The department has partnered with Mondo to provide the new indoor track surface in the facility. The new 200-meter, 6-lane oval, permanent banked track will feature Mondo's Super X 720 surface, which provides the optimal blend of energy return, comfort, safety and durability for everything from daily training to the toughest competitions.

An eight-lane sprint straightaway, a pole vault lane, two long jump/triple jump lanes, throw areas, a four-lane warm-up straightaway and non-competition areas around the track also will be Mondo's Super X 720 surface. The competition surfaces, as well as the warm-up lanes, will be in a shade of purple Mondo custom created for the program.

Fresno State unveiled an ambitious re-imagining of its athletics facilities in May, targeting not just a Valley Children’s Stadium in dire need of renovation but every one of its 18 sports programs.

Unlike a stadium renovation that flat-lined and failed in 2018, the initial phase of the project already is paid for through a combination of private donations and the $1.5 million buyout that the athletics department received when former football coach Kalen DeBoer was hired away by Washington two years into a five-year contract.
Significant renovations to Valley Children's Stadium, home of Bulldog football, will include:

  • A new press box and premium club tower
  • Improved accessibility to the stadium
  • Multiple new premium seating and social gathering spaces
  • Renovated suites
  • New video boards
  • New bathrooms and concessions offerings
  • Other structural and brand enhancements throughout the venue
The first step in the master plan is a renovation of the suites on the east side of the football stadium, which will begin this summer.

Revenue generated from leases on the upgraded premium seating will then be used to fund or retire debt on the next phase of the renovation, which is likely to focus on the north end of the stadium and include the addition of more premium seating opportunities.
Additional funding for projects will come from private donations and perhaps a second iteration of a Fresno County tax measure that is likely to be on the ballot in March 2024 for the presidential primary election. — The Fresno Bee, Fresno State Athletics

They even had LED lighting installed at the football stadium two years ago. Your move, @UTEPAthletics.

Seems like UTEP has given up on improving its Athletics Program. Very Sad......
