Coach Terry makes 1st UTEP offer / Basketball Recruiting

If he's announcing next Wednesday then he probably already knows where he's committing. He's probably already talked it over with the staff and may already have signed. Also see that the wording he used to announce his commitment date is similar to the language and tone of Likekele's announcement. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but the timing, language, tone and timeframe are very similar.

I know he already took his visit to Butler. I can’t find any info if he has already visited South Carolina. But I did find this article from October with a little bit more information on him.

I've read that Butler wants to redshirt him and I would think that Martin would do the same (since they already have an all-conference PF and 2 young centers).

I guess if there is a clearinghouse issue it doesn't matter then, but I beleive he would lose a year of eligibilty (like Osborne). This may be why there are not a lot of teams after him. The article is too old and I would imagine things have changed. Anyway, I hope he announces his signing with UTEP.

Not same situation as Osborne. Osborne sat out, because he was in College already.

Anyone check the Techlandia or Okie Statelandia twitter and message boards? OSU and Tech are set for the next two to three years where as UTEP is not yet in that boat because of Floyd's recruiting. They would play immediately (like right off the plane or getting out of the car immediately) much like Gilyard situation because his services and level of competitiveness was needed.

It would be nice if someone from our newspapers or local blogs could put together some more recent research on him.

Some one on twitter asked if this was the big news and Luna said no its not.

I saw that yesterday, but that question had been answered already. I thought mikesarabia might have re-answered it...for the sake of emphasis...because he knew something. I’m just fishing. Kinda hungry for some good news.

Actually, it sounds like the Ezeagu situation is similar to McSwiggan, who was a high school recruit. It is likely that he still needs to be approved by the NCAA clearinghouse to play next year; and that may be part of the reason some schools appeared to have backed off some. Of course, it would be huge if he signs and is eligible to play immediately.

The EP Times only has Bill Knight, who writes fluff pieces.

The “Herald Post” only copies stories from the official UTEP website.

What a time to be alive!

I thought the McSwiggan deal as well as Kavell Bigby-Williams and other players from Britain have to do with the compatibility with the British School system and ours. In England they go an extra year of school and thus lose a year in the US.

From what I remember, that is correct.

Either Ezeagu has another visit or he is just waiting for the signing day party...which is cool. BiG Canada would be loved by us fans. I've gathered that much.

Also I didn't realize that Tarke is a Div 1 transfer and would have to sit out a year. He still looks good though and I hope we can sign him.

Now since Ezeagu was born in the Bahamas I wonder if he would like the nickname big Canada. Sounds like a good question for my imaginary q&a article.

Good point. Although he super raw, and could use a redshirt year, we could really use his size next year.

Will UTEP be bringing in any more high school recruits this upcoming weekend? Or are we done with our high school portion of the recruiting class and just waiting to see what happens with Isaac and Ezeagu?

Such a bad move for Mr. Smith. Should have just stayed with us and become part of the new Terry era.

By who? CRT said he hoped to retain everybody who was a current player when he first got here.

I wouldn’t take what he says as bible, just because he would not say anything different. No coach could say they’re cleaning house. I feel like they left the program of their own accord given that both Wade and Smith were contributing and they had a chance to be pivotal players with a new coach. But they’re gone, best of luck and God Bless. Moving on.

I like that most of you know what’s best for his life.

The only “bad or wrong” move, is telling some 19 year olds that they made a mistake leaving UTEP.

Maybe it works out for them, maybe it doesn’t. It their life, let them handle it.

Right. Only Shovel is correct and has all the answers. I mean come on someone once said Paul Thomas is the next Durant. Right Shovel. These guys. Better start taking notes from you. You are Trump council material... :)
The shovel has brought up the Paul Thomas comment so many times it's comical. Get some new material hombre.

For the record a potential player being recruited by multiple NCAA teams is a hard pass cuz he’s from NJ Institute Technology. A player leaving UTEP for Junior Jones county shouldn’t be judged as a bad decision.

2 different things. I said I would pass, not that HE should. You said it was a bad move for a player to transfer.

My opinion on a player’s ability.
Your opinion on how he is making a mistake.

For the record, I like you shovel, even if.you think UTEP is filled with bad bad people. Hombres and such.

Likekele's friend Maxey chose Kentucky over OSU, so I think that helps us out. If he had chosen OSU I think Likekele might have wanted to team up with him there.
