It's funny because this thread was going fine with the excellent insight UtepMiners8106. We disagreed on some things, but we disagreed respectfully. That's what a message board is all about. If we all agreed this board would be very boring.

Read my posts again. I am happy that Senter is our AD. I also am happy we have a new football and basketball coach.

I never criticized anybody. Again, read my posts again before you state things that aren't true.

You all are very negative, and our moderator should put a stop to these TROLLS that are out of control. You're right. UTEP hasn't won a game in the Big Dance since 1992 and hasn't won a bowl game since 1967 because of people posting on message boards.

I’ll bite. Back in 2006 (maybe 07)utep emails for students went from a @utep.edu account to a @miners.utep.edu (based off of Microsoft outlook office) as a part of a deal with Microsoft. Can’t get a new password if my old email account doesn’t exist anymore, and don’t remember it.

Again, if you didn't understand the first time, Senter didn't say anything specific. I can't help you if you can't read.

Don’t think Senter has a crystal ball. He changing the attitude of Miner Athletes.Changing the loser attitude will go a long way to create winners. From all your post it’s obvious you part of that negative attitude that needs changing.

I'm the most positive and most optimistic person out there, but I am also the most realistic person out there.

So you're saying before Senter got here every single athlete had a loser attitude?

I can say all day that great things will happen. Until I have accomplished those things it's all talk.

But, at the same time you have to admit that there is a black cloud that hangs over the football program. We complained every week about how the offense was one dimensional under Kugler. It got so bad that Natalicio and Stull had to release statements a couple of years back. Your HC quits half way through the year and you go 0-12 and your home crowd dwindled as the weeks went on. Regardless of past successes these kids it had to have shalen their confidence to some degree.

While I do understand the point you’re saying, we can’t just sit here and rah rah rah, and expect change on that alone. I hope these kids are working on what they can control and get better every day. But at the same time you can’t be “too real” either. You can’t go “Look, we suck.” There is a trickle down effect here, if your AD and coaches are positive, especially in adversity that’s a heck of a lot better than seeing them blow up and lose their confidence too.

And I will say that we do need to be realistic. Change will not be overnight.

100% agree. It's very hard to be optimistic about UTEP athletics. It's nice that we can start with a clean slate with football and basketball. I don't expect much to happen in the first two seasons. If something does then that's just a bonus. But in year three the honeymoon is over.

As well it should be. But Senter and company will have to cross that bridge when they get there. But, if he can build up the fan base, up donor money, and get this ball rolling then maybe he will have the money in play to fire a coach in a timely fashion as opposed to sticking with him because they cannot afford a buyout.
