Coach Terry makes 1st UTEP offer / Basketball Recruiting

As 8106 said you can't sit here and rah rah rah, and expect change on that alone. You can be optimistic and positive all you want, but at the end of the day you have to work hard to have success.
You are right, hard work brings success. It appears to me that’s what’s happening with the new regime.

It’s still very early in the process. And like everyone else here I am optimistic, but we are all very much in the honeymoon phase. It’s like what we said earlier, what happens if UTEP FB loses to NAU? Or what happens if MBB falls flat on it’s face? We have to face the fact that there will be adversity, because this is UTEP and it seems like nothing comes easy here.

We will see soon enough how both of these coaches handle adversity. Kugler seemed to be someone who insisted on trying the same thing again and again. Floyd seemed like he wanted to yell and scream and yell some more. But that’s where these guys will show their worth in my opinion. If they can weather the storm and stay on course we will be golden.

You can tell he needs work. Wasn’t a fan of his dribbling. But at least he’s trying to improve.

But this does bring up a good point about how we’re always talking about big men. This kid is 6’11 and he’s trying to dribble around picks, crossover, do step back jumpers. So are we going after a 6’11 wing player, or a 6’11 kid who wants to bang down low and fight for position/play D?
I'm not sure but he looks pretty decently skilled to me. I would like to see some game tape. I think he could handle his own down low.

This kid looks huge compared to the competition. Now this is what i like to see, blocking shots, running the floor on offense and defense.

I think so too. Handles the ball well for a guy that size. Has a decent shot from 10-15 feet out. A few moves near the rim. Plays a little D. Interesting prospect. Again...if his mind is right. That “stuff” is often times environmental.

Looks like he wants to stay in Florida. I wish him well, onward to the next one
With Gilyard and Mcgee already here, it would have been tough for him. He has put up some ridiculous numbers though! My bet is FGCU. Good luck to him. It will be interesting to follow his career. He showed a lot of love to UTEP on twitter.

Hopefully we hear something from Tarke soon. I'm not sure if he has to commit by wednesday since he is a transfer, but I think he would fit in with team very well at SF.

Interested to hear from Bryson Williams soon as well. Haven't really seen anything that links him yet, but getting him would be huge. Of course We Want Eze too!

Next Wed should bring some news. Interested in January and Nemo and if they commit. No new twitter action from what I posted earlier.

Fudge. My gut feeling is he wants to be the #1 running the offense and UTEP already has that in Gilyard. Thank gawd we have Gilyard; that's all I have to say. But UTEP needs a quality big man, now.

Wasn't Eze in EP over the weekend? If so, too bad no one greeted him at the airport like they did Isaac. Haven't seen any reports on his visit.

Tarke visited this past weekend. Eze visited during the cinco de mayo weekend.

But you’re right. It almost feels like the fan base put all their eggs on recruiting Issac. Once the air let out the ballon there’s little energy for the real team needs.

Im sure there was people there to greet the recruits. But i kinda feel isaac didnt like the greeting with the trumpets playing. It seemed way overboard for a 3 star player. I think he thought it was cheesy.

I get what you’re saying. But that seems to be where college athletics has gone in terms of recruiting. A lot of players on social media are acting like their choice of college is “The Decision” and but at the same time fans are lapping it up. So it’s a two way street here. I wonder how overinflated the process will be in 5-10 years time.

Fans have been all over these 2 on twitter. They just don't really respond back or retweet anything. I think the 'big news' from a week ago was Ezeagu. If Maryland wants Tarke we will be hard pressed, but think he would fit right in on this team.

I’m not a mathematician but if you check the date of Mr. Luna’s tweet and the date of Ezeagu’s official UTEP visit it adds up nicely.

I had friends that moved to South Carolina from EP and in a matter of months had their house on the market so they could move back to EP. Said they had not anticipated the biased minds that ruled the land.

Just by quick look, it doesn’t appear there has been much communication between Eze and South Carolina. They offered him last Septmeber and I’m pretty certain Eze never even visited Gamecock land. Iffy move to pull the trigger on a place you’ve never been to, imo.

That's exactly what happened with my friends although they had briefly visited and loved the beauty and climate. Didn't spend enough time meeting the residents.

Maybe I shouldn't have made this post, because it's based solely on hearsay. I can't make any claims at all from personal experience and therefore wouldn't be equipped to debate it's verification.
Sorry, bad choice.
