OT: Down go the Aztecs!

Baylor and Gonzaga go down too. Kansas new #1.

3 teams with 19+ game winning streaks.

3 times the miners have gone on 19-0 runs (UTSA, La Tech and Rice).

Can we get 19+ wins?

I think we can. Win the next home game, split on the road, upset the 5th or 6th seed in the first round of the conference tournament, then win two in the cbi.

This team is not playing in the CBI. It costs 50k to play in the CBI and UTEP would have to sell 5,000 $10 tickets to “break even”. That’s without taking into account paying employees and other costs associated with using the DHC. 100% not happening.

We can go on the road for free.

Please let me know the last time UTEP was drawing barely above 4K to their conference home games. “4,100” for the game yesterday
Alot of times. Just cuz Stull tweaked the numbers to make it look like everything was good doesn’t mean we were actually drawing 6-7k. Look around at similar conferences to ours. 4K is a solid number. This is life in the new mid major world.

Terry has been using the word youth a lot lately. Senter is going to jump at the chance to claim a postseason tournament as a major improvement from last season.

Go on the road and if we win there’s no clause that forces us to host. If we were interested in hosting, the cbi will probably negotiate with UTEP the way they did for the Fresno St game.

4k is more than probably 95% of the teams in CBI average. I dont know if people dont pay attention but this has been the trend in college basketball attendance. Everytime a school builds a new arena or renovates their arena the capacity gets smaller.

Some people get off on misery porn. Everyone on this board knows how bad things have been with UTEP athletics. We dont need to need to be reminded.

Well if there are “a lot of times” then they should be easily referenced. You think there was actually 4100 at the game yesterday? There’s been lots of no shows, all year. I’ve been to at least 1 game every year and seen highlights/photos of all the others for at least 25 years. This year is BY FAR the lowest attended by fans that I can remember. By both reported attendance and actual crowds.

So yes, interest is at an “all-time” low. Nobody gives a **** about this team. Which is why they won’t be playing in any C tournaments.

I don’t care about how other teams in the conference are doing or college basketball in general. Interest is down at UTEP and any other school that has continuously sucked.

The cbi is full of teams with fan bases that have low or zero interest in basketball. Looks like a perfect match. Orem Utah from the mighty WAC hosted a game with only 300 in attendance last year. The cbi would love to have a team capable of drawing a crowd of 4K. Attendance won’t dictate shit. If Senter and Terry want to continue the season they will.

Most of those schools are not self proclaimed “basketball schools” or usually come close to having UTEPs regular attendance. Utah Valley has never been to the NCAAs, so paying for a CBI bid is probably something their school feels is worthwhile. I don’t think UTEP will feel the CBI is “worthwhile” this season

Seriously, man. The CBI is a shit tournament. Playing in the CBI says you are a shit team and you're proud to show off how shitty you are.

Aren’t you the one saying we need to learn to win again by beating the shitty teams from the wac? Well here’s our chance to do it without having to join the wac. You should be all for it.

I never said we should show off our shittyness in a post-season shit tournament. Learning to win against WAC teams is a seasons-long journey, not one or two shit CBI games.

As soon as the last MBB game concludes turn out the lights, reassess the players and coaches, discard the unwanted players and coaches. Start anew as soon as possible (if this includes a new HC, so be it).
Enjoy outdoor Track and Field season!

I'm torn between shutting it down and post season play. I loved the CBI run with Barbee and the open seating when we got home games. I also remember agreeing with CTF when he said no post-season unless the tournament starts with an 'N'. I think there are pros and cons with both. For me, It will depend on how the season comes to a close.

The CBI does not discriminate- Cal St Northridge got an “invite” after going 13-20. UTEP is already qualified!

But then even Floyd went to the CBI one year.
