Sellout The Sun Bowl vs LaTech!

Anyone have an official ticket count as of today. Also do they have the main ticket center open? Hard to imagine that every single person has bought their tix online.

At least they're trying on social media.

Can they still light the windows of Wells Fargo Plaza to say "UTEP"? I know they did it years ago, but I don't know when was the last time they lit the windows to say UTEP. But that would be some good publicity for all the drivers on I-10. Make some calls and get it done!

What are they doing though? Pop up videos on Twitter from coaches and players is good. I wonder if covid hinders more in person interaction?
But where? Should the players be outside Walmart interacting with locals after a full day of classes and practice?

Not being sarcastic just wondering how you think they should go about it.

Maybe they can hang out at SWUP before and after the game tonight and beg the people to go on Saturday.

-Go to class

-Go to practice

-Have a good preparation of practices

-Hydrate and eat well, especially 24 hours prior.

-Early to bed (if homework allows)

-Limit distractions.

-Do not get hyped during the week, but stay focused. You will be emotionally tired by Saturday night if you get pumped during the week.

These are taught in high school.

Oh, and do not decided to go on a cabbage soup diet or total body cleanse thinking of lightning up your weight for mental and physical acuity. It doesn't work that way. You'll get killed on the field/court.

I should have known Bret wasn't giving the full story...
Yeah, but he didn’t lie either. Seems he’s trying to generate interest however he can. I’m all for it. If people hear that more and more are attending a practice, then it just might pique curiosity. Kinda like, “Man, if people are spending their valuable time checking out a practice, maybe I should see what all the hype is about and at least take my family and check out a game”.

Those who are more die hard will likely, at the very least, stumble into the actuality of the situation, the part that Bret left out…sayyy by coming across it on a forum. I say no harm, no foul. I definitely notice a more concerted effort to get people out to this game. I can appreciate that.

Schools if it’s allowed. I know covid is hindering a bunch. I have not lived in El Paso for over 7 years. So I am a little disconnected with what type of promo they have done lately. They can also go into the big businesses and drop off some poster/flyers. Maybe leave a stack of tickets priced at $10 bucks flat. They can go to the local restaurants and do the same. They can blast the local radio stations. Not just KROD. They can go on Univision. Pump some money into marketing. Go to local gyms like 24 hr and planet, leave a poster. I’m beyond shocked they haven’t done a flash sale or buy one get one free or even buy one get one 50%off. Invite the local high school football players for a discounted price of $5 tickets. If allowed. It’s not hard to do. Even during covid. Have a zoom meeting interaction with the players, those who attend qualify for a discounted rate. And of course, reach out to the UTEP students. They are a no show

With that be said, tickets are clearly moving. As shown on the Ticketmaster website. Folks on social media have been posting tickets too. El Paso is starting to get the message. A loss on Saturday, it probably all goes away. A win, would be insane!

Yeap another 250+ tickets sold since this afternoon. The interesting thing is that the cheap $14 tickets aren't moving as much as the other price ranges. This leads to me believe those will start selling more on Friday when people are paid and Saturday for a big walk up crowd.

Bring your friends, Bring your family!!!! Buy 3 tickets receive 4th ticket free! Buy 5 or more tickets and receive them all at half price!!!

Marketing department could learn a thing or two about promoting games.

UTEP seems to be working hard to push the game on Twitter. From the Athletic Department to the Student Govt tweets have been flooding my timeline about the game on Saturday. This could be the biggest game of Dimmel’s tenure here at UTEP.

If they do get butts in the stands and have more than 20,000 they better not get blown out! That will have an Opposite Effect! New fans will be like, "I came for this" old fans will say "Same ol Utep" It's sad to say, but most fans are fair weather fans and this game is the most important game of the year, especially with all the promoting! Gotta win or at least be close and make it a good game.

Exactly right. I remember the build up to the home game with Army and we had a very good crowd and then after getting clobberd the fans vanished. Hope for a win but if not then at least a hotly contested game.

This wasn't a random event of people just showing up, UTEP had previously designated this day for donors to attend a football practice. There will be one for basketball as well.
That is correct, I received an email from UTEP to attend a football and basketball practice for being a donor.

We on here love our Miners (except certain idiots) but El Paso is fair weather on the Miners, always has been. Mike Price showed what a coach can do to sell a product because he said it was part of a college coaches job. Sean Kugler believed the opposite, he publicly stated so by saying he didn't need the fair weather fans and it showed. Dimel stated publicly "I am not a RAH! RAH! coach" and he is not and it too showed even with last home attendance.

My point is this, stop blaming El Pasoan's. You don't have to be jerk like NoWins who is just against everything UTEP, but the "C'mon El Paso! Show up" only goes so far.
