Went to Twitter to see what she's been saying. Interestingly enough, she retweeted Eric Obrien's tweet, hich stated that his sources were confirming UTEP is still in the running.
Wow u did your research to rebuttal a simple opinion haha. You have way too much Tim on your hands. Anyway still a weird college choice based on his other choicesTheir coach made 3 NCAAs and 5 NITs at Akron before taking this job after last season. He also coached some marginal player named LeBron for 2 years in high school. Pittsburgh > El Paso.
Yeah, totally weird!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think UTEPlandia may have laid it on a little too thick if we don't land him. This wasn't as strong as the Alex Galindo visit to UTEP years back (he wound up at Kansas) that appeared to make him feel somewhat awkward because the scenarios were almost similar to Likekele.
I wonder if she’s the source.Went to Twitter to see what she's been saying. Interestingly enough, she retweeted Eric Obrien's tweet, hich stated that his sources were confirming UTEP is still in the running.
So who pays for these "official" visits. Does the University foot the bill?
Alvarez visited Florida Gulf Coast this week, but has not committed. He is still retweeting UTEP stuff, so it seems like he is interested. I think the coaches are beginning to focus the forwards and interior guys. We need the big Canadian kid to commit this weekend. It seems like we haven't had much action with Neftali Alvarez lately. I wonder if the staff feels confident about Isaac and they feel that 3 freshman guards is enough for one recruiting class(Isaac, Hawkins, and Stroud)?
The UTEP Coaches and UTEP BBall Twitter accounts have been active this week. They appear to be acting as if they are currently in a battle(I.E. that obvious mid-major tweet yesterday), which makes you think that Isaac is not a done deal, like the drop in Alvarez recruiting would seem to indicate. Like Lil Train said previously, maybe the staff is just waiting on Isaac's decision before moving forward with Alvarez?, or maybe he just wasn't interested in us?
In regards to Isaac, I would say that it would be extra impressive if he were to pick UTEP and stay loyal to CRT, especially after he visited two different Big 12 schools that wanted him, AFTER his UTEP visit.
I wonder if she’s the source.
Nowadays everyone on Twitter is just a DM away.Didn't think of that, but ill bet you're right
I really like our chances of getting this kid due to the fact that Terry can guarantee this kid lots of playing time next season due to our shortage of bigs.We need 'bigman' this weekend. Everybody on twitter go after Ezeagu!!
Interesting, you post this comment around 5pm and then around 9pm this tweet comes out. Hmm. (Thinking emoji)Yep
Not sure how many each kid can take in bb, but as of 5 years ago kids could take up to 5 in fb. The visits were often used just to get a free trip out of it, as the student/athlete already knew where they were gonna go.
The "culture and language" angle for top recruits is on the "well, maybe" scale IMO as compared to being sold on the coach who recruits them. The personal touch brings home the bacon. Look at Lubbock, Stillwater and Las Cruces for example, but yet they make the NCAA tourney. I've heard Stillwater just plain sucks.I think Likekele will be down to OK St. and UTEP this weekend. For what its worth he did retweet something from OK St.before his visit, and nothing from UTEP or TECH. I think we look into it too much. If he is loyal to Terry then awesome.
Alvarez has HIGH major offers from programs that are good all the time, but I get the feeling he wants to be close to home. IMO UTEP does have a shot because of the language and culture and previous Puerto Rican players.

Let’s compare RT’s and likes from all three visits.
Check this out! He is a must get for Terry. Who's meeting him at the airport? Get on twitter kids.

What a complete roster we would have with Mr. Ezeagu along with the others that have signed. With him alongside Efe we would be a force to deal with in the paint.Check this out! He is a must get for Terry. Who's meeting him at the airport? Get on twitter kids.

From what I gather off the internets, CRT has really strong ties to Canadian recruiting circles. When he was first hired, Osbourne or someone connected to Osbourne made it a point to announce on Twitter that he was staying. FWIW.Check this out! He is a must get for Terry. Who's meeting him at the airport? Get on twitter kids.

This is the guy visiting this weekend. You’re right he should be receiving the same love we showed Issac. We’re up against Butler and South Carolina for him.Check this out! He is a must get for Terry. Who's meeting him at the airport? Get on twitter kids.

He is getting a lot of love from miner fans, but admittedly doesn't frequent twitter and really hasn't retweeted much from any school or their fans. I do wonder about his eligibility coming from Canada (like Osborne), but if this kid signs with us it will be like X-mas in May for sure. This is the guy visiting this weekend. Yes Eyman is still on there and it's not updated. I did notice that Ochieng is now rated above 90 by 247, which is pretty high. Does anybody know how we find out if he and Martinez are still signed. I liked the video on Martinez. Stroud, Hawkins and Odigie are not even ranked by 247, SMH.I’d pay ZERO attention to that because the ranking is based off of the Ochieng and Eyman signings. 24/7 is just a tad behind the times.
They're not signed. CRT said they had 9 scholarships to give, which means he let them out of their letter of intent.Yes Eyman is still on there and it's not updated. While that’s true based on our student attendance at games it’s safe to say they aren’t the ones carrying the flag for the university. A majority of the fans don’t attend the university and some never did. So if we compare city populations then we are slacking. Since El Paso is more than double the size of Lubbock and Stillwater combined.UTEP and Oklahoma St have about the same amount of students, but Tech has 14,000 more than both.
A good portion of UTEP students are from Mexico and are not likely concerned with basketball recruiting. Don’t see an issue with UTEP fans slacking.
May 16th for Division 1.....so 12 more daysWhen could we expect a decision from these prospects? What is the typical timetable between finishing all campus visits, and getting hitched?
Is it a couple days? A week? A month or more?
May 16th for Division 1.....so 12 more days
Keep in mind, D1 transfers are not bound by that May 16th date, as they don't sign LOIs. For example, Keith Frazier was added around September last year.
They have a signing day luncheon for football. Don't know what they have for Men's basketball?K, thanks, amigo. Given the positive vibes from recruits via social media, at least we are in the conversation for some good gets.
I sense May 16 could be more of a Christmas than the fall of the Alamo. Though the UTEP athletic department is already strapped for staff, I would like to see a signing day luncheon for basketball, similar to the first Wednesday in February for football. Anybody with me on this concept?
The public response might open some eyes, especially for prospects who are just now finding El Paso on a map.
Boot home some winners, Coach Terry.
