Football Recruiting

Dimel said that Kavika asked to stay as a red shirt for his growth. Source: radio show last night

Ok. That makes sense. Good on him for asking and good on Dimel to grant that request.
Question: has Eddie Sinegal seen the field this year? I remember seeing him in street clothes vs NAU. The Athletics website shows him as having played in a 1 game. But he hasn’t registered any stats.

I was wondering the same thing?

From what I've heard, Sinegal would be a good candidate for Last Chance U.

He looked like he had potential, but is it off the field issues holding him back?
I believe so. He is the speedster we need on the edge. Anyway, if he is not injured (which we haven't heard) then he better get his act together or he will just be an afterthought next year.

Last night I watched Andress-Burges....Andress' kicker Mark Ramos is pretty damn impressive, banged a 40-yard FG that was good from at least 48-ish, and every kickoff went out the back of the end zone oh and yeah pinned Burges inside their own 10-yard line twice via punts. He has a D3 offer.

They also got a versatile DB that looks like a very suitable D1 corner, Andrew Henderson. We need corners with length, and I know we should stay away from El Paso kids but I came away blown away by his ball skills and his talent. Truly a hidden gem in my opinion, he has six INT's this year which leads the state. Andress moved him to safety this year, but he's a legit corner with long arms and well above average ball skills, he's poorly coached because his hips are always too high and technique is very raw but he's able to overcome that because he's a better athlete than most of the competition on his film clips. Would like to see these two kids on UTEP's roster in 2019, but just them, Hankins and Lyles from El Paso in this cycle.

Parlaying off of this thought; I am wondering how Chapin can supposedly have 3 future D1 players(including two 3-star players), all 3 are Seniors, yet they only have a record of 1-4? Their terrible record includes going 1-3 against El Paso teams and their only win was by just 1 point. Something seems odd about that?

Metro areas in Texas are full of mid major FBS talent on not so good in W/L column teams. This is Texas. A lot of great football talent from Anthony,TX to Paris, Texas; Pampa, TX to Corpus Christi, under not so good leadership. Chapin is no different.

Chapin doesn’t have a legit QB this year like they usually do so they can’t put up points. You have a great point. Workman is decent and has potential but I can see Williams (Baylor commit) and Lavea disappear on a FBS roster if you know what I mean.

Help out our future qb win player of the week. So far he’s leading the polls.

Browsing through UTEP twitter, i noticed the dimel kid still has his gory days with Kansas as his profile pic.

Hilarious, insulting, and totally understandable....

Check out the mid-season highlights of one of our current commitments: Juice Tupua. He moves well and gets off of blocks. He was the first in this year’s class to commit and he looks like a solid get for us. I like Dimel’s talent evaluation thus far:

He has beating every G with the swim move, and quick first step. That’s a good place to start. I like it.
Big step to FBS from high school. It's not fair to expect Trace Mascorro results on a true freshman at FBS level. It happens but not often. Wisconsin has a good reputation for attracting defensive player walks on's (like JJ Watt) , but that is an anomaly IMO.
