If we don't have a football season

Not good since that’s where kids from LeBron’s school are promised college tuition. They just built a new football stadium too.
I don’t think they’ll completely drop football. We might see them make the jump to FCS. They might actually be successful at that level. It’s all just a hunch.

That sucks, but I don’t think they will be the last school to do so, if they do. We’ll have to see what enrollment looks like this fall.

If you had to make a bet, who do you think will be the first FBS school to drop down?

I don’t know everyone’s finances. I would have to guess, it would be one of the following: Eastern Michigan, Akron, UMass, UL-Monroe, San Jose, NMSU. Depending on the COVID issues, I could see schools such as UTEP, Rice, MAC, and SBC schools being hit too.

Basically anyone not in the P5, top part of AAC/MWC, and some Indys could be in trouble if things continue.

For P5’s it’s not about survival like it is for G5’s. It’s about missing out on the money to add gold toilets to their locker rooms.

Sure, but if you’re coming up $100,000,000 short, cuts have to be made. They still have to pay all their coaches and other athletic associated jobs.

Since athletes want to be paid as if they are employees, then these athletic departments should be run like a business.

Maybe. The issue is, how do you pay the football players what they’re “worth” and pay the rifle team the same? The rifle team works just as hard at their sport and probably does better in the classroom, but let’s face it, nobody gives a fvck.

Also, if you’re going to run it like a business, that’s good for the top players, what about the ones at the bottom. You could easily “fire them” if you ran it like a business. A school like UTEP would be further behind if college football was run like a business.

Now is not the time for Twitter wars when two P5 member schools hold your fate in their hands, existentially speaking.

I agree, dick move. Would you feel the same if the Big 12 did the same thing and 2 UTEP games were cancelled?

It's just my opinion but I think if a conference cancels the season, the schools in it should be off the hook. If, on the other hand, Texas was to have there season but cancel the UTEP game in order to schedule someone else, even within their conference, then UTEP should get the cancellation fee.

If UT cancels the UTEP game, they wouldn’t be finding another team to replace them. Tech might since they have to come here, but they have a balanced 5h/5a schedule at the moment.

Texas Tech already lost their home game against Alabama State, so if they didn't play UTEP they would start their season on September 26.

Does anyone believe we are actually going to play football and the baseball season last more than 3 weeks?

NFL will play, I don’t think MOST colleges will play. Maybe a game or two at most. Baseball is already in trouble. Could have learned from soccer. I think the NHL and NBA will be successful with their bubbles.
