Jacksonville St./Kennesaw St. Prediction and game thread.

Hats off to Kalu tonight. He got benched for getting beat bad on boards very early but came back in 2nd half for a poster dunk (had 2 poster dunks) that sparked UTEP and mediocre fan turnout and had a couple blocks in second half that were critical. Still needs to block out though.

One of my many complaints with Terry was that he didn't reward bench players for playing well. It didn't matter whom it was - Hawkins (before Lathon left), Tarke, Stroud, Odigie - they could have a good first half, wouldn't see time in the second. Or maybe he'd let them play both halves and they'd have a good game, but wouldn't see significant time in the next game. I hope that Golding doesn’t follow that same pattern. With his play tonight Jones earned time in next week's games. I hope that Coach gives it to him.

Also, I swear I thought I heard he gets in the dog house or does in game pendejadas like almost getting a T tonight.
Jones did get winded for sure, but that is as active he has been on both ends since he has been at UTEP. He was a big reason they were able to make there comeback and win despite getting beat up on the boards once again.

I’m still holding my breath and not sure if Golding will have us dancing this year, but at 15-5 and tied for 1st place we can complain all we want, but at least early on we’re in contention for a title. Not much separates the top 8 teams in the conference. It’s gonna be a battle night in and night out. Louisiana Tech seems to have righted the ship and NMSU has lost 3 in a row. I’m just gonna enjoy it, cause the games should be exciting and stressful. It sucks it’s a one bid league, I could argue that there are at least 2 bid worthy teams as the 8th toughest conference once it’s said and done, but we know that won’t happen. Let’s enjoy the ride and see what happens.

Does anyone really believe CUSA is the 8th best conference? How many power schools did CUSA beat OOC?

Kane it doesn’t matter your opinion or your thoughts or anything like that. The numbers say it is so who cares!I haven’t looked, but I know at least one or two. However in years past the MWC didn’t have many power school victories, but had 5 or 6 top 100 teams in conference and would beat up one another. Like I stated it’ll be a 1 bid conference, but CUSA is no. 8 whether you like it or not lol

Probably the best you can say about CUSA this year is that, by and large, the conference hasn't lost games it had no business losing. Which is an improvement, since it hasn't always been that way.

We're rated higher than the American, allegedly. The AAC has more good wins than CUSA by a large margin, but it also twice as many bad losses.

We have a bunch of average to above average teams, but no high end teams and no absolutely awful teams.

Well if you break it down to Quad wins, then these are the numbers CUSA vs American:
CUSA Quad 1 wins/losses 1-13 American 5-20
CUSA Quad 2 5-19 American 13-26
CUSA Quad 3 42-36 American 37-41
CUSA Quad 4 48-11 American 72-22.

Pretty even like you said.

I know without looking that Kennesaw State beat Buttgers.
Yes they beat Rutgers at home. Rutgers is currently 10-10 and 3-6 in Big Ten play.

Liberty beat Kansas St on a neutral court. K St is currently 8-11 and 2-6 in Big 12 play.

These are the only power conference wins the “8th best conference” could come up with?

That’s fine we just answered the question and again who cares what you think the numbers say CUSA is number 8!

And yet, why does it matter? We all know CUSA is a one bid league unless someone wins out starting this week. And even then...
Exactly. Whatever ranking where CUSA is ranked 8th, isn’t the only metric the NCAA uses in seeding or selecting teams. They’re going to see the conference didn’t beat anyone. Only fed on garbage teams and didn’t have any bad losses.
