Wake me up when Dimel's Fired or Hardison is Benched 🔥

Done with my thoughts, opinions or watching this years Utep Football until or unless Dimel's Fired or Hardison is benched. I know it probably won't happen and Senter doesn't care, but I'm done with this team for the year unless there's a HC or QB change. Good Night after another Miner Football Disappointment!

Call me Crazy on this Proposal but It’s Time

Staying up late on the East Coast to watch some of UTEP football has been rough to say the least. 2 or 3 weeks ago while watching the game I looked in the Miner offensive huddle and said out loud the Dimel era is over. It’s one thing struggling against good opposition and being able to take something from every game to move to the next. But we’ve gotten to the point where every week the team is regressing in a completely different facet of the game. From Offense to Defense to Special Teams it’s all a mess. And when you look at the players in the huddle their faces and body language says it all. Someone tell me these players haven’t checked out. You can’t! How can Dana Dimel relate to these players? Your younger coach on the staff Scotty O’Hara is in the press box with binoculars jotting notes. He sure as hell ain’t calling the plays. The players know they are stuck with Dimel. And it takes a lot for these players to keep showing up , and not turn on each other or even the coaches to the media. I actually commend the players in this aspect.

—Here’s my wild idea. You let Dimel finish the season. You take a huge risk on a YOUNGER-OFFENSIVE minded coach next season that won’t even cost 800k a year. GJ Kinne is making 800k a year right now ( the same salary as Dimel ) at Texas State and has beaten Baylor AND Nevada this season already. While putting up 77 points in a single game! I bring in MACK LEFTWICH, offensive coordinator, at Texas State. Yes former UTEP QB Mack Leftwich. At 28 years old, you’re not paying him 800k, so in a short term contract you’re recouping the Dimel last year loss. You give him 4 years. And if it doesn’t work out fine. But you take a RISK! You get someone younger in the building who is already familiar with the UTEP program, knows Texas- College and High School Football and you let the young man put together a staff. He ain’t gonna cost 800k and quite frankly , maybe Kinne advises him to stay with him. GJ Kinne is going to be one of the biggest names in college football if not already. So I wouldn’t be surprised if someone on his coaching staff says I’m sticking with him. It’s probably the smarter thing to do even for someone like Mack Leftwich.

In closing answer this question,

“What parent of a high school kid is even allowing Dana Dimel walk into their house and promise the world to their son, when we all know he won’t be at UTEP past next season?” Unless UTEP is your child’s ONLY D-1 offer you’re not even considering sending your kid to play under this staff at this moment. Dana Dimel has ZERO business recruiting any high school kid right now. He should be looking strictly at the portal and the JUCO ranks. ( oh but Dana Dimel doesn’t like pulling from the Transfer Portal ) what an old fashioned way to think. And a terrible way to evolve in todays coaching world. You actually think high school recruiting is what’s gonna help a school like UTEP in todays game?

Though I say let Dimel finish the year….It’s time. Make a change UTEP. Take a damn RISK!

I would like to thank Coach Dimel and his staff

Up until Saturday I had been planning to sign up for a Fubo free trial this weekend, thanks to Nowins' legwork, and watch the Miners play at Arizona, even though I wasn't crazy about the start time (10 PM CDT). The Miners, however, were looking out for me. By getting blown out by Northwestern I no longer feel compelled to go through the (admittedly minor) inconvenience of setting up and later canceling a Fubo account, and I will now go to sleep at a reasonable hour Saturday night. Thanks guys!

Utep vs old Border Conference Rival Arizona Predictions

Let's just get this out of the way. I'm not sure who was the closest, but not sure it matters with the blow out that most didn't expect.
Dimel is allegedly going to make changes to put the offense and Hardison in better situations. I'll believe it when I see it SMH 😒
Arizona somehow is only 17 pt favorites at home. I don't know who believes in Utep still in Vegas, but that line is generous to say the least.
Utep plays better, but still loses Big

UTEP Talented, but Flawed Miners 14
Arizona moving to Big12 Wildcats 45

2023 is looking like 2017

This was Dimel's fifth year. The year the program was going to make a leap. It didn't. To make it worse we probably played the most manageable schedule in UTEP history. A coach in his fifth year couldn't ask for an easier schedule. There is no excuse for not winning this season. He has to win one more game to match Kugler's five year win total. That fact in itself should get him fired.

Next year the schedule is harder. We start at home with fcs UIW who beat Nevada 41-14 this year. That's no gimmie. At best its a 50/50 game. We then get two power five's on the road @Northwestern and @Arizona. Then we get a very improved UNLV at home. I could see us going 0-4 in non conference. In conference the only two schools I would favor us over are the two transitioning FCS squads SHSU and JSU. Even those could be toss ups. If Dimel can't win this year with this easy schedule he won't win next year. He should be fired but I'm afraid we're going to see a repeat of 2017.

CSU looked good. Is it too much to ask for UTEP to look like that?

I was going back and forth watching both games, then gave up on UTEP at halftime and focused solely on the CSU-CU game.

Everyone is dickriding Deion but what I saw is that CSU has something special brewing. Kids have grit, never gave up. Their WR’s can catch! Their QB didn’t pout and quit after that pick-6. Their LBs have their fundamentals down on how to tackle.

CSU was on the road vs the world, and they took it to CU. (Blah blah dirty plays etc, CU was doing the same shit but the media is all over their balls.)

Of note, Norvell is the 74th highest paid coach in FBS at $1.6M. Dana Dismel is the 97th at $804k. Jim Senter makes $350k, Joe Parker CSU AD $440k.

Anyhow it’s a damn shame UTEP continues to regress, and we keep paying this clown $800k a year for bogus football while other schools, former conference mates, continue to leave us in the dust.
